While i agree why be so unpleasant about him because he is trying.

A figure of speech. I of course would not like to see any player get injured. Something like that though is the only way that the club are going to address the issue I fear.

I'm being serious colback doesn't pass as well, doesn't take corners or freekick as well, doesn't score as many goals, doesn't get as many assists, doesn't tackle any better.

I suspect he gets paid more and doesn't get booked as much unfortunately.

He's going to be like Ameobi and stick like a winnit for many years to come.

A couple of clean sheets will breed confidence mate, you have an unhealthy looking fixture list to begin with, you've been thrown in at the deep and and it'll only serve as good experience 'welcome to the PL' for your new centre half. From what I've seen of him, he looks decent. A partnership at centre half is the most important element of a back line, I think it will come with your pairing save for injuries.

Left back, you look incredibly weak. I'd be surprised if McClaren doesn't address that situation. I also think you could do with offloading some eggs, Cisse for example, he's a dickhead, I think you'd have already finished your shopping if he'd gone and you had him off the books.

A left back is vital. Haidara is not going to improve greatly and he is a massive weak link.
Cisse - I think it's a case of no-one wants him. I think we would have signed Austin by now if Cisse had been sold.

Its simple

Coli needs replacing
Haidara needs replacing
Anita needs replacing
Colback needs replacing
Two wingers are required
Another striker

6 players still required which isnt happening.

That is what is required for a top half finish and anything less its anything from 15 th to relegation im afraid.

We have around 4 players not fit for top half championship sides in our first eleven and you don't get away with that in this league simple as that.

I think teams will want Cisse, just not his baggage. The baggage is certainly a factor in his price tag and maybe your owner is reluctant to accept that, given that he's actually a clinical finisher and can score goals. I agree about Austin.

Years of cheap signings are coming back to haunt us now. It's no good spending money on front players if we have a leaky defence.

We will have to agree to disagree again. I don't think Colback is anything special or good enough to be first choice, but Danny Guthrie was a steaming pile of horsepoo. He gave the ball away far more than people seemed aware of, and constantly gave away dangerous free kicks through laziness. He was a lazy bastardo and fat.

What happened to him?

If i was ashley id be firing graeme carr!!! Seriously the majority we sign end up being useless.

I just googled Danny. His career has not quite gone as one would hope...

He was released by Reading at the end of last season (finance was part of it). Towards the end of his time there he advertised his services on twitter including his agents number etc. Bit of an all time low but may have been a dig at not getting a new contract. He has since signed for Blackburn on a free transfer after a successful trial.

Poor fecker seems to be desperate. I know I didn't rate him but he was good enough to play in the championship, he should be begging for people to employ him. Bit of a rough ride by looks of it.

Exactly colback isnt even championship quality either

well I still and always stand by my view that maclaren just aint for us ..giving colo a new contract shows how good he is , when half of Tyneside seen a lot different ,, a year ago gary Neville was telling and showing the whole football world against man city ..how lazy and slack he was ..and a year futher on he still fookin here ..... like how blind can people involved in this club be

3 things:

Firstly if this was the start of the transfer window I'd be chuffed about perhaps getting Thauvin. It isn't though, we have 2 weeks and probably not much of a budget left and we should be focusing on (in this order) a left back, a centre back, a holding centre forward and a winger. This is time and money the club is spending enforcing the less urgent issues.

Secondly I may be in the minority here but when I think of Guthrie I think of the October of the season we finished 5th when Tiote and then Cabaye both had a few games missing due to injury and Guthrie was playing for us. The results were very good and it was due to 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration but he was not without talent. At that time he was a young (ish) English player and was taking his chance to prove himself. He slipped down the pecking order but I felt at the time we let him go too soon. He hasn't done anything since to show me correct but then again neither has Anita.

Thirdly Colback >> Anita. Either put him next to a ball winner and tell him to get forward more and link up play or (preferably) put him next to a playmaker and tell him to feed the ball to him and Colback will do a decent "mid-table of premiership" job. He's not amazing but he's good enough for where we are, he's young and he's local.

It's a good signing simple as that im sure we will get another defender and suspect sissoko will go along with tiote
