Last year they invited 30 lads back after the Super 4s to pick the squad of around 18 players for the County Squad. I've kept an eye out on that cohort of lads via play cricket and they've played games against Northumberland, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and a few others. If it's the same as last year they will be batting, bowling, fielding and doing a 1500m round the track out the back of the indoor nets at the Riverside.

My lad has done really well this year. Played about 50 game for his club, including a couple of games for the first team (admittedly they were short with holidays), loads for the 2nd XI and midweek teams. He got a 49 for the 3rd XI Academy team on a Sunday as well.

He's had 2 games for his Rockets team and got another 2 this Friday and is loving it.

My daughter passed her A Levels and is going to study pharmaceutical science at Sunderland.

When she was a toddler, I used to take her to the preschool science days at Life in Newcastle. She always said she wanted to grow up and work in a research lab. So proud that she's taking the next step towards that.

Back to talking about my boy.
As I’ve said before our only child and son (Tom) is an Avionics Tech in the Royal Australian Navy. He fixes all the electronics components on the MH-50 Seahawks. Up until yesterday he was an Able Seaman. The ranks are the same as the Royal Navy.
Anyway he called us last night to say he has been promoted and is now a Leading Seaman, which is apparently the equivalent to an army corporal. It gives him more responsibility as he would expect. He is also sitting some sort of board in the next couple of weeks which allows him to review and sign off on work completed by more junior ranks.
So well done Tom. Me and your mam are always proud of you but it’s so nice to see you doing well.

That’s great news Chunks, it can trigger some support and brings some legal protections as they get older. Loads of really good work being done e on supporting neurodivergent people and finally mandatory training for people working with Learning disability or autism through the Oliver McGowan training.
 
Mrs K this time.
For the last 15 months Mrs K has been in an acting position at work. She works for the Western Australia Department of Health. The way it works is on levels. Her proper level was a Level 4. Her boss was a Level 7. Her boss went on a secondment which was made permanent a couple of months ago meaning the Level 7 job was up for grabs. Anyway Mrs K was interviewed for the job and got it. Her official title is now Coordinator-Office of the CACH Executive.
The best way of describing the jump is to use something that I know which is Australian police ranks. She was the equivalent of a Senior Constable. She’s jumped to the equivalent of Inspector. Meaning she kind of outranks me now by a couple of ranks.
I always knew she was capable of getting the job permanently. Not that she reads this forum, even if I did get her supporting the lads, but I’m immensely proud of her.

From what I read it’s a struggle to get any help with a child with Autism so this is testament to your persistence!

That's great news and fingers crossed for him this year.
Just had a message from my son to say that he has received an email saying that Isaac has been selected for the County and details for the winter training sessions will be sent in due course.
To say how proud of him is an understatement, giving that he only took up cricket 2 years ago :emoticon-0152-heart
