Our lass, despite my strict instructions, has latched onto this Vera police drama.

To me she looks like a poor man's Morse dressed as Paddington Bear.

That's not the worst aspect, what I can't bear are the cringing NE accents from Brenda Blethyn and the other cast members.

Is the accent/accents really that unique and different ...

... or do people around the country find attempts at their accent equally as dire.

its rank mate tonight they are in rothbury supposedly yet all give it the whey aye man ****e

Last year, on ship in denmark (work, nowt flash) a crew member asked was I from the same place vera was from because he thought the accent was the same!!!!!

I've never watched it so is her accent good, or is mine odd???

I like trying to spot the locations...

She is far to old to do the show, as per David Jason in Frost..

Now if Charlie Therazon was the DCI..that would be good

It's completely cringeworhy, from the daft accents to the awful police procedures, she is the female Jack Frost who both treat their junior officers like **** which would never work in a real police station.

Do comedians ever make good detectives ? accents aside, I can't think of any, Rowan Atkinson being the most recent failure in my eyes, and the sheer joy of Jasper Carrot struggling alongside Robert Powell proves little, but gives me a :emoticon-0100-smile.

Lad I know texted me to say he was going to be in it

Texted him back saying no body watches that ****e man

He wasn't happy

Ardel O’Hanlon (him off Father Ted) is dreadful in Death in Paradise! Can’t take the programme seriously.

Like Mrs. S. would take any notice . . . . she'd more likely knock you out :emoticon-0136-giggl

We tried to watch it once . . . . about a year ago, I think, 'cos Mrs. A.s brother was in it (forklift truck driver working for Dove's ower the watta) and we couldn't believe how bad it was, with the cringeworthy and 'forced' accents.

We only watched it once :emoticon-0148-yes:

Its a nightmare, and each episode, I am forced to watch gets worse, and am dreading the next series with a new "star detective" as each one has managed to be worse than the last, the "love" interest in the last series was an all time low, that would have taken some believing on radio never mind television.

steve bruce and Steve cram talk strange now trying to cover they northeast accent ! the detectives series is great, Frost, Cannon, Kojak, Charlies angels' mmmm the best ever if you can call them detectives was the avengers. Try the benny hill detective sketch on you tube.

I like it...
I like Death in Paradise too......
I love The Mandalorean

So my taste isn't ALL crap

Harmless escapism. I quite enjoy it and do the spotting locations thing. Love how they “warp” between places at opposite ends of the region just by driving round the corner

The Detectives is one of the most underated comedies. It was just fun. Surprised it isnt repeated regularly.
