I know it's illogical...after all, I am grateful to Rickie and will give him a decent reception. I think it's because of all he said and claimed to represent....he will bear the brunt of disappointment that should be aimed at all the leaving players. If he is booed (which he will be), it will be sad after all he has done, but he set himself up for this.
He won't get booed for leaving Saints. He will be booed for the empty words he kept uttering after he signed a 5 year deal proclaiming his undying love for the club and desire to play here forever. Then his weasly little words and manipulative ways of leaving without harming his own image. ****ing gnome, be gone now.
We owe Lallana a lot but I think he owes us more than he's giving. He may have performed on the pitch but he owes us more off it, in regard to getting his transfer. Demanding a move without handing in a transfer request is inexcusable. Rickie was a more likeable person and also, as a goal scorer, provided us with more memorable moments. With the Liverpool factor and his age he naturally gets our blessing more than Lallana.
Rickie Lambert - Legend. Luke Shaw - should've stayed, probably would've sparked a revolution of talent on the south coast. Adam Lallana - chose to be a Liverpool player rater than a Southampton legend.
I've watched all but one home game and a huge amount of away games since Adam made his debut and cannot bring myself to say thank you, the way he has handled this in the press he can f**k off as far as I'm concerned. Luke has not been with us long enough for me to feel anything other than he is going to be world class and it was time to take the money - I also don't feel he has pushed things through publicly and we know Utd were after him for a while. Rickie, all the best to him, he has always conducted himself as a gentleman and deserves one last hurrah at a club he considers his own and we know he will be very respectful. The different receptions Adam and Rickie get from the away fans on the first day will be stunning!
really? If you listened carefully, the first trip to Emirates, he was booed. He then came over with Theo and basked in Theo's applause. His first trip to St Mary's was mixed. There was a section still booing him. It seemed to have worn off last season.
Agreed; did not trigger a transfer request; wanted all for himself. Doubt if I will be back for the Liverpool game; but l hope Saints fans (am sure they will) cheer for Ricky when his name is called out over the PA when naming the squads - just like the Rovers fans did when they visited us in his first season. I would not boo Lallana, l have to much respect for my team (notwithstanding the poor leadership shown by the board) but no hearty cheer from me. Its not sour grapes (although some will write otherwise) but am glad this farce is complete and we can get on with our club and forget about him.
I'm gonna call this one nice and early. If the Saints fans boo Lallana on his return to St. Mary's, he will score the winning goal for Liverpool.
Of course Oxo's transfer was nothing like Adam's has been, but I seem to remember his dad doing interviews and making noises etc. I was at the Anfield game last season and obviously loved that considering we won! Unfortunately I won't be making it this time around
