No I wasn't suggesting it was.

I think they want a self sustaining club and I don't think they find it plausible to do that in the Championship, especially with no gate receipts to boost income.

Players won't cost as much to bring in, wages won't be as high, youth players can be used and agent fees won't be mental.

We'll lose TV money for sure, but if the running costs are reduced enough, plus the Bowen money and other fees owed to us come in, this would probably be offset.

They sacked Slutsky for far less than this; it could be argued that they'll wait until the end of the season to let McCann go, but then even they know that a football team that hasn't won since New Years Day and is getting badly beaten by playing really poor football needs a better manager.
 
It's baffling to me that there are still people on here who can't see the blame lies on the Allams.

You've been told a thousand times where we were going to end up and still you say no.

We were ****ing right we've proved that.

Now you have to just get on with this.

You've made your bed, you now have to lie in it.

Sad thing all round is that if it wasn't for pure arrogance, and a non-collegiate approach with fans, local authority and potential suitors, then they could and should have left the club as local heroes.

It seems to be as much about ego with them as business or even community wellbeing as supposed benefactors.

I don't doubt they had positive intent at the start, but that went sour years ago.

This isn't a defence of the regime, its been shockingly incompetent, ham-fisted and egotistical at the very best, but maybe they feel they've made their bed with Mcann and are prepared to lie in it regardless of relegation?

Who knows?

Maybe they think Mccann is the man to get us back up with a couple of additions in league 1?

Either way, I think we're all looking for the same answers.

In his interview of June 27th: while he doesn't say ''I don't mind if we're in L1'' I thought these were the two most pertinent questions regarding league status, with the last line of his second reply most telling -

You think clubs in the Championship will struggle financially next season?

It’s all dependent on when we can get fans back, but yes. I think there is a risk of that in the Championship as well as in League One and in League Two.

You are well placed financially?

Yes. If you look at Bolton, for example, they were in the relegation zone for the last game of the season a couple of years ago. They were losing 1-0 and then scored a couple of goals and ended up surviving in the Championship, which for most people, would have been a fantastic result staying up. For them, it actually ruined them. In the following season, they went into administration and since then freefall. It might seem a success on the pitch but it actually cost the club very, very dearly. I would rather be financially secure, whichever league we are in.

Others may interpret them differently, just my take.

League 1 clubs receive about £5 million less per season in distributed income than Championship.
So dramatically reduced revenue if we go down.
Ehab was desperate to have the season abandoned when we were one place above relegation.
We paid money, probably pitifully small, to buy Wilks from Barnsley only two weeks ago. Why do that?

So, a total crock, but not by design. He really has no idea what he is doing.

Agree with this. Arrogance, incompetence, egotism.

Still, it'll be us heading to ****ing Gillingham and Shrewsbury next season so whether by accident or design still unacceptable considering the unprecedented income the club has generated and been wasted on ehabs **** in the last few years.

Beggars belief. Quite literally.

There's no law to say how much you need to spend in each league, if they want to pay players a couple of grand a week and play mainly youth players, there's nothing stopping them doing that in the Championship.

If finance is the only motivator, then you get revenue as high as possible and costs as low as possible, you don't just force both down. The League One revenue is so low, that it makes it pretty much impossible for them to clear a couple of million for interest payments and makes the club worth far less.

It doesn't add up, I don't think this has anything to do with wanting to trade a lower level, it's simply down to incompetence.

The Bolton situation primarily occurred when Eddie Davies pulled the plug, very little to do with what division they were in.
