"The affinity towards Israel also makes Spurs a team I really dislike."

Can't stand that team of Antisemites FC.

In terms of fanbase Everton are up there for me. Never seen such a self-entitled, deluded bunch of ****ers before and the new stadium have made them ten times worse.

I find it odd how there's some clubs here who appear multiple times who I actually don't mind - Everton and West Ham.

Only Man Utd, mainly because my brother-in-law supports them....

Oh and Spurs 'cause they nicked our song! Makes me seethe whenever I hear it

Can I give a shout out for three teams that, for some inexplicable reason, I like? Port Vale, Accrington Stanley and any team managed by Micky Mellon, the perfect name for any manager

It's not that odd, it's you. :)

TBF, this is the sort of thing you will get different opinions on.

Yeah I get that I just don't understand why there's so much hatred for say Everton. Does a lot of it stem from Koeman and people being upset by their fans pointing out it was a step up?

I quite like Everton, big club with a largely local fanbase. Fans are mostly sound too.

Leeds United - I don't hate them but I dislike them, when I was at secondary school nearly every lad in my year supported them and one in my village insisted on telling me how great Leeds were, how great the Rugby League team was, and how great the Yorkshire cricket team was. He was born and bred in the next Hampshire village to me and had no Yorkshire relatives. It was because Leeds were good at the time, and he wasn't alone being like that. Also the banging on about that 7-0 win and showing the passing bit where Saints don't touch the ball. No one mentions the cheating and trying to bribe referees do they?

I don't have much time for Manchester United, Liverpool either, you get thrashed by them or beaten regularly and they will take the pee out of you continously, they lose two game on the trot and it's the end of the world..

I think this thread has come up a few times. In my opinion, the dislike for a club is not consistent but changes with a club's changing fortunes.

I have never liked Arsenal yet found this team under Wenger insufferable. This was exacerbated by the fact that I frequently visited France during his tenure and disliked how popular Arsenal were in the Hexagon at that time. I really hated the bespectacled knob who ran one of the Arsenal fan sites.

I have never liked Liverpool and find them insufferable. It pleases me whenever their fortunes wain or if they get humiliated by Man Utd. Just feel they are the one English team due their comeuppance and even more so than Man Utd. Other than that, i have to say I have never liked Spurs who I feel have a fan base that is seriously deluded over their reputation. The affinity towards Israel also makes Spurs a team I really dislike.

As far as Portsmouth are concerned, I see them as bitter rivals yet also have respect for them. Some of their fans are horrible and have a dreadful degree of misunderstanding. Despite this, for me they are not a team I could dismiss. There is so much heritage with Portsmouth and I do feel that they have a bigger and more passionate fan base. Having worked for a long while in the PO postcode area, I feel Saints fans seriously under-rate Portsmouth whilst , at the same time, few clubs have underperformed quite like Portsmouth over the last 50 years. Having seen what Portsmouth achieved under Redknapp, I am wary of what they could do if they got their act together. They are not irrelevant and would be bigger than Saints if they had more capable owners and a stadium that belonged to 21st century and not 19th. Not convinced they will ever fulfil their potential yet am conscious that a 'rectified 'Portsmouth would have the potential to dwarf Southampton. Just don't see it happening in the short term but I think the threat is there is they ever got their act together. In summary, I enjoy reading about their misfortunes whilst conscious that the potential is there to be the south's biggest club.

Not sure about the dislike for Bournemouth. I am always glad to see them do well unless playing Saints.

Whatever happened to the hatred towards Luton Town ? They were always the villains in the 1980s. Just think that Saints fans are more inclined to dislike former manager or players as opposed to clubs these days. Different in the times of plastic pitches !

It's ok just to support Portsmouth Ian!

Lol

I think that is a step too far !

I worked in PO postcode for nearly 9 years. It is a hostile environment if you support Saints but made worse for me when we were relegated and all the dodgy money came into Portsmouth. My point is that I am wary of them. I don't necessarily see them as underdogs...maybe more a sleeping giant who have been badly run.

I feel Saints fans are more reasonable and pragmatic with their aspirations. You can never say that about Portsmouth.

Totally understand the antipathy towards Leicester.

Only 8 seasons of top flight football in the last 67 years, i'd call that almost ****ing comatose!

They are no more likely to return to being a giant of the game than 'Uddersfield, who have a bigger history than them.

How can they possibly be classed as a sleeping giant. Proper Portamyth territory that one where they compare themselves to Sunderland.

They were getting four figure attendances 30 years ago ffs and since entering the football league average less than us.

They had one good period either side of WWII and then bar an extremely fluky FA Cup win which bankrupted them have done nothing since and barely been in top flight since the 60s.
