I certainly agree that he shouldn't play out wide. Also, he doesn't actually get in my first choice side. I just disagree that he was awful against Reading.
With the players we have at our disposal they shouldn't struggle in any formation really.
I thought he was terrible, and was getting right pissed off with him up until the goal.. At which point i guiltily confessed to "taking it all back.."
But in hindsight i definitely don't, he didn't do anything before/after the goal to make him worth inclusion on monday. It was like playing with 10 men, i was actively watching him and comparing him to zamora, who really gets stuck in and gets involved in the interplay.
Other than the first five minutes when he played a few nice passes with the outside of his foot, and that lone charge into the opposition's half which looked promising until they regained posession, he pretty much did nothing. Less than nothing, because the rest of the side tried to adjust for his benefit, and going through him just meant squandering posession.
Exactly, we need to get Cisse in form and firing. Best way is to start him alongside Zamora with Hoillet providing from out wide on the left, Dyer from the Right and Adel or Granero, and Ale from behind.
What did he do apart from the goal out of nowhere? He wasnt linking up well because he got offside all the time and he stopped more attacks than any of their defenders did.
However we have no choice but to play him if we go 442.
4-4-2 exposed Granero and Faurlin and their lack of pace. Granero loses possession a little too easily at times too. In the team I chose you'd have M'bia sitting in front of the back 4 in a 4-3-3/4-5-1. We get caught on the break far too often, even when playing 4-4-1-1. Hoilett as the one behind the striker coughs up possession a lot too and isn't the hardest of workers.
Id play 442 with Park on the right who can tuck in if needed, its West Ham, they will bypass the midfield anyway.
I really think wednesday was just a blip.. To start criticising Faurlin/Granero this soon is a little preamture.
Spurs are pretty pacy and they didn't do too badly against them.
They played sunday then wednesday, which much be hard for someone coming back from injury/someone with a disrupted pre-season.

These are criticisms are they not? Criticisms that weren't being made prior to the Reading game.
I suggested the Reading game was a blip, perhaps partly due to fatigue(which directly relates to the lack of pace you mentioned).
What's so wrong about that?
Because thats his preferred position, one that hes hardly played due to the insistence of playing the useless SWP.

I agree with you Col. From what I saw Chelsea and Spurs we need a faster, tough deep lying midfielder to sit in between Granero (or Adel) and Ale and our back 4 to protect them better. Granero and Ale played well but are short of a pace, and late in the Spurs game that was very noticeable when they were probably tiring. I haven't seen M'bia but I suppose from what I have heard that this is a good position for him, or Diakite. The alternative for me would be to play Ale with M'bia or Diakite in a defensive 2 man midfield, and Adel or Granero further forward in a 3.
Ok. But it is hard for me to see why he will be any better at getting past defenders, crossing, or scoring goals from the right than he is from the left, or centrally come to that. He can probably work just as hard as he is, and make good safe passes sideways and backwards either side, or still better centrally.
Hes right footed, its much easier to cross on the right side. Beckham proved you dont have to get past defenders to get a great cross in.
Nothing at all. Everything is going really well. Everyone is playing exactly as we'd like and no need to talk about any of it!! QPR are the best team in the league and the fact that they are bottom of it must be some kind of computer error.
