Hope you're right about the points coming. I don't necessarily agree that the team that played Spurs AWAY is the team we should play against West Ham at HOME. We need to create chances and score goals. SWP doesn't create much at all. Park hasn't either. A hard working draw is not enough in games like Monday's!
Has to be 4-3-3 for me. A genuine holding midfielder can be employed to stop us being caught so much on the break and it becomes 4-5-1 when we lose the ball. Zamora is perfectly suited to that formation imo.
Col! Now you talking mate - Great Post!. While we were good at Spurs in 60-70 minutes, we didn't make too many chances, we looked tired and slow last 20/30 in midfield, and we lost. What is ManFlu? A Man U disease or a Flu that women give ya? Whatever, it adds Crit to your posts. But get better quick
Pundits on the PL channel have both just tipped us to win Monday with Zamora, and Cisse and Hoillet confidence boosted from Wednesday, giving us the firepower to beat West Ham. They must have it right this time!
As Traore is apparently out still, and Adel maybe not ready enough for Hughes perhaps this 4-3-3, 4-5-1 when we loose the ball, will be a team that can beat Hammers. M'Bia in a deep midfield position should protect our back 4 better, and BZ, with Cisse and Hoillet can all score. Granero and Ale can hopefully provide the creativity and run the game better going forward with M'bia covering them and hanging back a bit. I see Cisse playing off BZ, with Hoillet out wider on the left. --------------------------Cesar----------------------- Dyer---------------Hill---------Nelson----------Onouha ---------Granero-----------M'Bia--------Faurlin------------ ----------------Cisse--------Zamora----------Hoilett
Close to mine mate. I'd play Park instead of Cisse simply for his work rate. Really agree about the 4-3-3 changing to 4-5-1, but Cisse won't make that work as he won't fill in defensively.
I don't think with our squad, or most squads, can expect more than around max 8 or so players to be good defensively. Have Man U bought VP and use players like Welbekk and Young because they fill in defensively? I don't want Cisse to work back defensively, I want him to terrorise the opposition's defence and score - if he's trying to fill in defensively as well, likely as not, it will blunt his game and we are less likely to get the performances we want from him. Same with any other striker. In the team I put up only Hoillet and Cisse are not good at the defensive work, Zamora is, so are the other 7 outfield players, and that is enough.
Defensively sound or not, Cisse is **** out wide. Frankly he's **** up front too until he gets his act together.
Cisse has looked 100 times better out wide attacking than either Park or SWP, but I think he holds a bigger threat playing more central with Zamora which is what I suggested. My idea in that team is that Hoillet would provide width, crosses and hopefully cut in and score from the wide left side, and Dyer get down wide right side, with Onouha holding back.
Forgive me and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall Cisse playing wide other than at Chelsea last season and he wasn't very good. He's looked incredibly sluggish this season too and even that goal on Wednesday was as a result of him being unable to bring a simple ball under control, leaving him no one to pass to. Zamora, meanwhile, has been frankly excellent. I wouldn't be averse to playing the two of them up top with a midfield of Hoilett on the left, Faurlin, Granero and Park but this game is too important, IMO, to risk another hour or so of Cisse doing nothing but getting caught offside.
No Can't play Cisse from the start.....Too lazy...will nullify all the good work Zamora does. I also wonder if Sparky is afraid of playing M'Bia (and Diakite) from the start....lack of timing in tackles..I feel both may risk a red card in a caldron battle as it will be on Monday My suggestion ---------------------------Cesar----------------------- Dyer---------------Hill---------Nelson----------Onouha ---------Mackie------Granero--------------Faurlin ------Park ------------ -------------------------Hoilett--------------------- ------------------Zamora-------------------------- With Cisse and M'Bia to come on to chase or hold the game depending I would play Mackie due to his work rate, they are going to come at us like steamtrains...and we are going to have to match that. Werst Ham is a very different team to ManCity, Chelsea, Spurs who all know/think they know that if they wait long enough their class will pay. WestHam like us are always worried about not getting the opportunity. A very different match and so very different tactics
I'd go for this line-up: ---------------Cesar--------------- -----Dyer--Hill--Nelsen--Onuoha---- ---------------M'Bia--------------- ----------Granero--Faurlin--------- --Mackie-----Zamora-----Hoilett-- The midfield would be combative but creative as well, Mackie and Hoilett would need to track back as well. Sadly, I think Park and SWP will start, possibly with Cisse in a 4-4-2...
I agree. And this is what will happen if he's played out wide: http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/ital...djibril-cisse-lazio-played-me-out-of-position http://hereisthecity.com/2012/03/20...-at-the-liverpool-career-of-djibril-cisse-as/
I really disagree with this. He's been pants up till the Reading game, but I thought he was much improved in that game and tbh, as long as he scores it really doesn't matter how he plays. We're not exactly over-flowing with goal scoring abandonment at the moment are we?
