I watched the game from the middle of a mob at the back of the Hammersmith end, which combined with the pillar in my way meant when I rewatched the game the next day I had missed an alarming amount. Initial thoughts - Dejagah going off completely took away from our attacking impetus. First half, we took our chances well and played well, but in all fairness, asides from their woeful mistakes, and even though they were the inferior side, QPR really weren't too bad. Berbatov just was a class above the rest, and Hangeland and Senderos were both sturdy. The build up to the third goal was fantastic - I was annoyed that it was not picked up on my the media, but the number of passes to make that goal, even though there was a brief Zamora interception in the middle, was truly fantastic. Had it been a Fulham player on the end of it, it would have been one of the best goals I had seen at the cottage for a while. Hangelands back-heel just epitomises the comfort and class with which we played in the first half. Giving away that goal at the time was stupid. Really bloody stupid, and I didn't share the certainty felt by some old chap that we had it in the bag at halftime despite the goal. Second half - that was never a penalty. It also was definitely not a red card. He tried to pull out, and his foot didn't make contact with a shin, rather it went between his two legs and tripped/ flipped him. So much worse has been given as only yellows. Their goal was well taken, yet apart from that, and the penalty, for a team that supposedly 'murdered' 'battered' us, they had few chances. We sat back and let them dominate, but we controlled well, especially after the sending off, that limited them to only a few long range chances. Despite what the media would have you believe, we deserved the three points.
Another interesting point is that, not posting on here much anymore and favouring other sites, I found it great to see a QPR compliment the din we made. Everywhere else I had been told by Rangers fans how little noise we made, and how much they made. Although I was in the middle of the standers at the back of H5, I haven't seen that many people stand for a game, or as much noise be made either, since the Europa campaigns. Moreover, I only heard from the QPR fans, quite honestly, cheering every time they scored, but asides from that singing some song about Jamie Mackie. Up at the back of the Hammersmith end though, the racket really was deafening. Whether the noise is all just lost in the thames or comes back from the roof and doesn't ravel to the Putney end I have no idea, but it was a great showing from the stands, well at least one stand, on Monday night.
