Tom, how's you record this season? 100%?
If this is true, then it is looking like 15m really well spent
And if it's an aggravation of an Achilles problem, things could get rather dire over there...if he requires surgery, that's his season over with, and Maiga/Vaz Te are not much of a strike force. And worse still, even in January they'd need to shift payroll to be able to acquire an additional striker.

Where's Carlton Cole when you need him![]()

I think it's unlikely that Carroll will start, which makes it likely that Maiga will start up front, and I can't see West Ham throwing a lot of long balls up to him, so I don't think we'll see the hoofing team we expect. I expect they'll try to counter with pace, which makes it very important that Clyne and Shaw both play.
BBC confirming Carroll is out. Good news for us.
As a side note would anyone trade lovren for astori right now? At the time i was a little disappointed that we didnt push harder for Astori but lovrens performances so far have ben exceptional. He hasnt really been pushed defensively but he has defended excellently when called upon, he has looked good in possession and seems to know where to position himself in relation to the leftback, and as a bonus he genuinely looked dangerous against norwhich when he went for a dribble.
Fonte has also been solid, he isnt as good as maya though and i feel our defence will go up a level with clyne and maya back in the team. I would hesitate to drop fonte without yoshida proving his form in the carling cup. It is a tough one though as i think the sooner we play our best team the better.
Did you watch west ham last time they came to st marys?
Right, so Saints fans only support Saints dependent on who the opposition is. They really are great Saints fans then, let's applaud them, they are the future of our club.
But if we don't sell out, will this scupper the superfans plans to expand St Mary's to 50,000?
I would expect maya to partner lovren better than fonte. We have made no significant defensive errors but we really havent been tested yet and i would feel more confident going into the tougher games with the maya and lovren partnership already established. The best team, doesn't always have the best players. A simple theory off overlooked by football fans.
