I'm pretty sure it was actually in the Championship the season when QPR got promoted a few years back - their progress was covered in in a documentary at the time - absolute comedy gold.1st ever season in the Prem, I think!

N'Doye looks to be in a good scoring rate of 1 in 1 so far but can he keep it up?
Really he needs to be scoring about 10 goals by the end of the season if he's going to be worth keeping hold of, as you say age isn't on his side (he's 30 tomorrow) so if we don't sell him soon he'll be worthless and costing us a lot in wages.
Fingers crossed he doesn't turn in to the next Yannick Sagbo.

With a critical game against relegation rivals QPR coming up on Saturday I'm surprised that there has been no discussion of what starting line up Bruce will put out there.
Assuming Diame is ready to go I'd expect him to start with this.
McGregor
Dawson Bruce McShane
Elmo Livermore Huddlestone Diame Brady
N'Doye Jelavic
Harper Davies Robertson Meyler Quinn Ramirez Hernandez
I expect a 2-0 win even if they put Austin in their starting line up. Three points will take us up to 26 and up to 15th with Sunderland playing WBA. Thoughts?
We've had a few games against the hoops with a bit of incident. Who'd count against another tomorrow?
There's the "Furlong-Edge bombing chant" game to open a new season, there's the Taarabt hissy-fit game and then there's the one that should teach fans never to leave early.

I'd be interested to see how many Roo thinks he should be getting before the end of the season before he's enrolled in the 'Jozy Altidore Special School for Strikers' or whatever he calls it.

Technically he's got 1 in 2. He needs to pull his finger out otherwise he'll fall to 1 in 3 (and below the good-**** line).

Nobody has the faintest idea just how many goals N'Doye may or may not get for the remainder of the season. Again, you take my posts totally out of context by suggesting that I set a figure as a yardstick as to how many goals he should get. I have never said anything like this. My criticism is levelled at those lame-brains on here who try to convince me that a "striker" who scores 2 goals from 30-odd appearances will 'come good' and 'contributes' in other ways. What a load of bollocks! We desperately need someone to score some goals and I am hoping that we have got such a player in N'Doye but it remains to be seen. If he doesn't hit the back of the net on a regular basis then PLEASE do not tell me that 'he is good at assisting the Tea Lady though'! N'Doye has been brought in to add some much needed fire-power up front so let us hope that he can do that.
Yeah but you do set some sort of figure, because it comes across that you're very close to writing off Hernandez after his return of 3 in however many. Some players take more time than others to settle into our game; Bruce already stated that African players seem to do it easier which would explain why N'Doye looks right at home in the Premier League.
I can see that pointing out what is now commonplace in the modern game is a waste of time, it doesn't seem you'll ever be able to grasp the fact that strikers aren't the same as goalscorers, there are varying types in every team. You seem to come across like every striker in the world's job is to simply score goals, when (and I think you do deep down) we know that simply isn't the case.
Bollocks Sterling. There are 'strikers', 'hold-up' forwards, 'target men' and 'goalscorers'. What we need is a bloody goalscorer - and it looks like we might have found one with N'Doye. ".
Hernandez came here as a goalscoring striker not to sit on the bench. He was a 2 in 7 striker for Palermo and a 1 in 8 (open play) with us. For 10 million quid we should expect a little better and that's putting it mildly.
Hernandez was 3 in 5, or 2 in 5 from open play before traveling to & from Uruguay & then injuries.
Anyway that's going over old ground right now, but N'Doye is 2 in 3 technically. As you say we DO need a goal scoring striker, maybe he is what we've been looking for, maybe not, we'll see as the season gets done.
It's nice to see you realise that there are other sorts of strikers, but without the **** ones that don't score, don't do the dirty work, the ones who score regularly wouldn't be getting the goals. I know it's hard to see with us, but at most other teams you rarely see both strikers scoring lots of goals, it's normally 1 who gets the goals & 1 that assists, holds up play.

"A striker isn't the same as a goalscorer" - what the hell's that supposed to mean? That a goalkeeper isn't the same as a defender! The the Chef isn't really the Chef - he's the toilet cleaner! How would you describe Bobby Zamora? He was a prolific 'striker' when with Brighton but at this level is a 1 in 10 'forward'. Bobby provides a service, anyone can see that and we nearly signed him for 5 million some seasons ago, but he is not a goalscorer as such.

He kept drifting out wide left second half too madge. How in hell is he going to score stood on the left touchline. There are shades of Simpson about him. i'd get rid before he becomes a standing joke, on his left leg obviously, because I've not seen him use it to kick with...N'Doyes pace, acceleration and jumping all dropped by two yesterday.
It's a slippery slope.
Those analogies don't apply to football at all. Outfield players are well known for being versatile, performing more than one role and being able to play in more than one position. We don't play it two strikers to double our chances of scoring, thats not how it works, we play with a bigger striker to set up the goalscorer; at the moment we are lucky that both of ours are scoring goals but if one suddenly stopped, it shouldn't mean they would be dropped.
I agree on Hernandez, we should be getting more bang for our buck, but it's not his fault we paid that sum for him. We need players to be able to work in tandem up front and more often than not in a front two there will be a striker who scores loads and A striker who doesn't score as many but helps out his partner. That doesn't make him ****, it's just his role in the team.
