Your opinion aint far wrong. Its very easy for the opposition to set themselves against us when we atttack. More urgency and zip is needed
That just made me think of that bit in Peep Show where Jeremy runs over some bird's dog. "Not the dog, not the dog....****, the dog!"
It was called Mummy. Jeremy reverses over it and following an unfortunate series of implausible plot devices, he ends up eating it in front of its doting owner. Who then realises what is happening. Another in a long list of Peep Show 'I guess a shag is out of the question' moments.
Any more news OLM… I was just reading he'd been recalled for the Scotland squad too…I suspect we'll resort to Elmo and Dave as was the case before his injury.
Unfortunately, while we have good holding midfield players, they aren't positive enough. You can see Dave and Robbo go haring past them and then have to brake when the ball goes sideways/ backwards. This for me Is our major undoing, no pace. IMO Bournemouth have survived this season because of the pace they have front to back. We would get mullered in the Prem with the pace we move the ball. My opinion of course.
If Snodgrass is unavailable then Mac Moses Davies Dawson Robertson Elmo Livermore Hayden Clucas Akpom Hernandez Don't get why some people are asking for Tynon to start - don't think he'll do so. Clucas really needs a rest but with Maloney injured, he's our best option on the left IMO.
He's the most obvious replacement but far from ideal. I really don't like our setup with two relatively slow wingers who don't take their man on and two holding midfielders. That lineup screams 0-0. If Snodgrass is out we should definitely go 352; Livermore, Huddlestone and Diame in the middle.
Huddlestone and more especially Diame don't put the hard yards in. Play them both and Livermore is overworked. Elmo has the ability to take defenders on, but for some reason he seems to have forgotten how to do it this season Clucas and Robbo combine well on the left (usually) but Sam has looked a bit below par in recent games. However, I'd still play him ahead of Aluko + with Maloney still injured, he gets the nod IMO. Also we won plenty of games earlier in the season with Livermore and Meyler in midfield and with Elmo and Clucas in the team.
Diame looked brilliant for us when he first signed, playing alongside Huddlestone and Livermore in a 352. Before he signed Tom and Jake played every game together as just a midfield 2 and that was always fine. And that was in the PL when you arguably need to be more defensive; we certainly don't need to in the Championship. We need to stop worrying so much about having enough defensive cover when the problem is we can't score. There was also a time early on last season when we played a weird kind of 442 diamond which was really attacking but we conceded a few as well as scoring a few so we quickly went back to a more defensive shape. TL; DR - Diame and Huddlestone in midfield isn't an issue.
I'd be shocked if MKD scored on Saturday. The emphasis surely has to be solely on getting 2 up as soon as possible. I don't think Curtis and Daws have done anything wrong of late, but I'd like to play Harry just for bringing the ball forward and initiating an attack from the back.
Thinking it will be a walk in the park could backfire, this is the side that turned Derby over at Derby 1-0 early this season.
Yes - remember Peterborough were going to be there for the taking in our last promotion season? They beat us 3 -1. Mental attitude has to be right for this one or we could get a shock.
