Poor Prem? Maybe, maybe not. But even though I was dead set against Monk's appointment and still question some of his decisions/ tactics I have to give credit where its due. He's done well and has shown that he's learning quickly with changes of formation and so on. If we end up top 10 which is highly likely that's a decent finish after losing Bony half way through the season. Having said that, if we falter now and slip into the bottom half I'll be less complimentary.
Big fan of Laudrup but he's history. Let's move on kids.
Many football related, highly respected observers feel that this years P.L. is of a poor standard, and I think that point of view has a lot of merit.
The Garry Monk followers take my repeating that as a direct assault on their hero.
Pathetic that an individual is not allowed a point of view here, without being abused for it.
In addition, many feel that the standard of football that has been produced by The Swans' has also not been up to their usual standard.
All opinions. All valid. All with some merit.
Those with one eye see it all so differently,as is their wont, but they won't accept what they see as negativity and criticism against their team.
Some weeks ago I forecast a defeat in an upcoming game, and was attacked as being full of "doom and gloom". Embarrassing stuff.
I was never against Monk's appointment,in fact, have not posted ANYTHING negative about him, other than his Oxfam style hair cut.
Laudrup was treated shabbily at the end,and I have said so., Guess what? You can work it for yourself.
A top 10 finish is very likely now,but most of the teams below 10th are substandard,so that dilutes the achievement, for me,anyway.
If the team does slip up,and finish below 10th,then the knives will be out,and it will be the Southampton away scenario again.
A man of Laudrup's quality, both as a person and a player, deserves more than your dispatching him to "history".
