What short memories some of you have regarding dyer, You dont become a bad player over night and he has served us well with his goals and assists this season alone. the guy has lost his confidence due to not playing much recently for one reason or another but as for rubbishing the guy then he dont deserve the flack. A fit dyer is a great player and we are lucky to have him....all players are prone to lose form now and again so cut him some slack......

Agreed. Dyer was banging them in at the start of this season.

"What short memories some of you have regarding Dyer".

Would that be as short as yours re Laudrup? <laugh>

    "cut him some slack".

Would that be as much slack as you cut Laudrup? <laugh>

Yesterday's victory was the 13th so far this season - a record number of wins for the Swans in the PL! <cheers>

Well, I enjoyed the game. Disappointed we switched off and thought they may have pinched a point with one of those late corners. Great goals, a record win, debut from a new starlet. Things look good.

We do seem to have a habit of only producing one good half per game and falling away in the second half of games. Is it a fitness thing or maybe a concentration thing in that the players believe they can stroll in second halves as the job is done. But al in all another win and job done.

I was thinking of the bottom clubs it doesn't matter who goes down as we always seem to take healthy points off those down there and that has happened again this year and has been the secret to us staying where we are.

Don't think it's a fitness thing, but more of a complacency thing. The lads know how well they can play and sometimes just think it will come easily, that's not always a bad thing as it shows great confidence in their ability, but what we really want is more aggression with it. Chelsea typify this, so an "aggressive confidence" in their ability to win games.

Think we can be a bit passive in our ability to get results sometimes.

Then again, I may be talking b0ll0cks :s

I don't think you are. Spot in in fact. <ok> There's a cruise control that kicks in second half, particularly when we're ahead. Monk identified that under Laudrup but doesn't seem to be able to stop it. Bloody frustrating to watch.

On Dyer - jeez, we all know he was great back in September but he's been bloody awful since October. If you think anything else you don't watch the Swans. It's not a question of criticising a player when it's unjustified - it's totally justified. Nathan has been fantastic for us and was one of our players of the season when we got promoted. Started off on fire this campaign but has fallen away badly and that's why he's been dropped.

We all want to see a fit and flying Dyer again but don't dress this up - he's been dreadful for quite a while. Harsh but true.

The Cup thing is all that you've got left to cling to, now that all the other records are falling week by week.

Not clinging on to anything, just trying to keep the Monkees honest.

The record number of wins has to be seen in the context of what is a very poor Premier League, but don't let me piss into your glass of celebratory champagne. <cheers>

Poor Prem? Maybe, maybe not. But even though I was dead set against Monk's appointment and still question some of his decisions/ tactics I have to give credit where its due. He's done well and has shown that he's learning quickly with changes of formation and so on. If we end up top 10 which is highly likely that's a decent finish after losing Bony half way through the season. Having said that, if we falter now and slip into the bottom half I'll be less complimentary.

Big fan of Laudrup but he's history. Let's move on kids. <ok>

Lilly I was the same and didn't want gm to get the job and still think he has a long way to go and still makes some strange decisions. It is easy to say the wins came in a poor PL, was it any poorer last season or the season before. Not so sure it is.

Like you I loved the time when ML was manager but we all have to move on with the here and now.

Many football related, highly respected observers feel that this years P.L. is of a poor standard, and I think that point of view has a lot of merit.
The Garry Monk followers take my repeating that as a direct assault on their hero.
Pathetic that an individual is not allowed a point of view here, without being abused for it.

In addition, many feel that the standard of football that has been produced by The Swans' has also not been up to their usual standard.

All opinions. All valid. All with some merit.

Those with one eye see it all so differently,as is their wont, but they won't accept what they see as negativity and criticism against their team.

Some weeks ago I forecast a defeat in an upcoming game, and was attacked as being full of "doom and gloom". Embarrassing stuff.

I was never against Monk's appointment,in fact, have not posted ANYTHING negative about him, other than his Oxfam style hair cut.

Laudrup was treated shabbily at the end,and I have said so., Guess what? You can work it for yourself.

A top 10 finish is very likely now,but most of the teams below 10th are substandard,so that dilutes the achievement, for me,anyway.

If the team does slip up,and finish below 10th,then the knives will be out,and it will be the Southampton away scenario again.

A man of Laudrup's quality, both as a person and a player, deserves more than your dispatching him to "history". <cheers>

Well i thought Laudcrap was as poor a manager as i have ever seen in football. You mention a cup win against a league two side that we got in his first 6 months where he publicly stated he did not know where swansea was and did not know the players so how could he mastermind a cup win.......The fact is we already had a team playing a style of football that was still playing that way and self picked.......that won the cup not laudcrap and that was clearly said by the coaches at the time and if you had a brain you should be able to work that out for yourself.....the minute laudcrap started to pick his own team and play his own style we went to pot and you could count the number of wins on one hand. The twat ruined what we had and his ego showed no bounds to everyone including the chairman and board members......We had to sack the wannabe big team charlie and we should have done it much sooner.....everyone at the club is glad to see the back of him and thank god he will never darken our door again and any big club that know just how bad he was......

I disagree with most of that. Laudrup achieved so much with us and deserves better than that, but the time for his departure was about right imo. Handled badly by the Board by the way.

I can't understand how a 'fan' of the Swans can show such hatred towards a guy who, whichever way you look at it, love him or not, had a brilliant season with us and delivered a cup win - something even big clubs like Newcastle haven't achieved in a generation. Makes me sick to be honest.

But "Dispatching him to history" wasn't intended as disrespect - it's just a fact. As Martinez, Rodgers and so on are part of our history. To say otherwise flies in the face of reality. Personally I'm already looking forward to next season, the players we manage to get, our plans for progression and so on.
