It begs the question "is gravy a good way to choose your favourite granny"?

I'd say it's a perfectly good reason. I've noticed kids these days generally choose the one that gives them the most money...

Good gravy is worth more an old 20p piece that's been at the bottom of the old slags handbag for a decade.

Reactions: Archers Road
Going to what Archers was saying about clubs that consistently win and it being a bit empty by comparison to a club that'd flip their city on it's head for a bit of glory... I'm not sure we'd match Saints in passion for a league cup win, for sure that really doesn't get our pulses racing, but for me there's no way a club like Saints will ever understand how it feels to completely decimate your arch rival's legacy using home grown talent to do it.

Nothing can ever match that for me in football, out of nowhere Liverpool's entire empire was smashed to pieces as trophy after trophy rolled down Sir Matt Busby Way.

Perhaps a Saints fan can say they'd piss all over us in terms of party time if they won a League Cup, but they'll just never get how it felt to be part of that period.

I get that totally.

It's like Arsenal finishing top 4 and qualifying for the CL 18 years running. It only took us one season to put their nose out of joint for good. You'd think Arsenal fans would be rich with contentment but instead they have had the mother of all meltdowns because they finished outside top 4. We didn't even get a trophy for doing that, funny as

Does it matter where you come from, I've been called a glory hunter on numerous occasions, I didn't want to derail my Chelsea meltdown thread, I support Manchester United because of the football that we play, It's got nothing to do with size of the club etc.

You get called a glory hunter, as you are a glory hunter mate. That's not a jibe, it's simply a fact.

When you were a kid and started watching football, you've made a decision as to which team to follow, you picked the one that were winning pots most seasons. Many make the same kind of decision it's how it works.

Years later and you're still a passionate United fan, but it doesn't alter the fact that the reason you originally picked them is because they were winning.

Hey it's ok mate, the worst part for you is over.

Just concentrate on the positives now, like how many goals and assists will Phillippe Cout.... oh.

He's gone mate. I accepted that about a week ago.

Like some rich little jumped up pricks gonna ruin my summer bredrin. Not happening.

It's just a team he backs in a sport, it's not like he's chosen to rob an old lady of her pension every Friday until she dies of hypothermia or starvation.

It's all very tribal. It's like attempting to assert alpha dominance on something that is purely designed for entertainment.

Judging other people because they didn't conform with some boring template on how to choose a club.

Mayo or salad cream? bit of both I like.

I also add a bit of pepper sauce up in that bitch, fire it up a bit.
Bit of both same as you, I did buy spicy slaw from Tesco once, was a bit rank and far to thick

Yeah I tried one too, it looked orange, some kind of chilli in it. Nice idea..but changed the classic taste of Coleslaw and I like that classic taste

They did follow a boring template on how to choose a club though - the one that was winning <laugh>

Some glory hunters aren't plassies, and actually bother their arses to get to a game every now and then. But many talk about 'supporting' a club when they don't know what the word means. Having a 5 year old washed out replica top and a laptop open on the occasional matchday, which they slam shut if their chosen side gets beaten and forget about it for a week. Not the same as travelling a couple of hundred miles to watch your side get gubbed on a wet and freezing November day, and it ruining your entire weekend.

But why does any of it matter?

Why does putting £25 into the club and sitting there moaning at the player's mistakes from the stands make you (one, not you specifically) more of a supporter than somebody who would love to go and shout at every match but due to other commitments they just can't?

Not everybody has the luxury, or the desire to put their sports club ahead of their personal commitments every time there's a match on.

A plastic fan to me has nowt to do with who they chose to support originally, a plastic is somebody who'd basically just say they supported United for example, yet didn't have a clue about United or the history, they'd even attend games then just spend the entire time tagging themselves in Old Trafford and taking selfies. Fake.

I met a Utd fan a couple of weeks ago that couldn't even name 10 of their players <laugh>

That's a proper plastic.

Exactly, those type of ****ing ******s do my head in. I had a mate who 'supported' Sheff Weds back in the day, he was a geek, I told him 'You don't even like football wtf you doing?' and he just said he liked the shirts... I just told him to buy the shirts if he liked them but stop pretending you care about the club.

People who can't afford to go but would love to if they could are different imo.

I'm referring to the kind of dick who thinks he's a hardcore fan but the most effort he ever makes is sticking a replica top on and going the alehouse.
