As much as I love Amad and want him back, I think we have made the right call here. Plus, considering he’ll likely get called up for AFCON in February I’m not sure signing him in January would be worth it either.

I agree totally mate.

Amad is fantastic, with what he does ...

... but there's a fair bit he doesn't do.

It's pointless having Amad there and keeping Ba, Bennette or Rigg in the reserves unless we think he's worthv signing permanently.

No point bringing him back on loan, got to find room for our own. Amazing what he brought last season, bit like Stewart we have to move on.

I really can't believe it's my club mate ...

... it's like inheriting a beautiful riverside cottage after years of living in a council flat.
100%, for years i said to my dad we should be focusing on signing exciting young players but i never thought it would be possible

Now it is a reality and to think its only the start of this journey..... buzzing for the future

We all want trophies and success now.

Which makes the Southampton match all the more remarkable. I get the feeling the crowd appreciate that we have to be patient and that things won't always click with these young lads.

I'm loving all this and don't even care if we get anywhere, which contradicts the last 50 years of support ...

... the football we're playing transcends chasing Man City and getting nowhere.

The only negative to playing jn the championship for the next 5 plus years and watching football like we have been is it will be a bigger turnover of the players we see. More teams above us in the pyramid means more that are a 'step up'. However, if you compare watching this championship team with the decade in the Premier league it's a lot more enjoyable. Apart from a small percentage of results and the time with Bent and Gyan it was largely ****e to watch. Getting beat most weeks and very little exciting football.

This team even when beat play goodstuf and its enjoyable to watch.

Enjoyed the KS interview. I just wish he'd take a note from TM sometimes and just say what he means in simple terms and not jargon and management speak. I think I agreed with 95% of what he said...but the bit about 'this team doesn't need 'a pin-point no.9'...what does that even mean!? I googled it...google doesn't know either. Target man/conventional striker I assume. Possibly right based on most of last season, but the counter argument could equally be made that we might already be up if we had a proper striker during the run in.

He's doing a very good job and I'm more than happy with where we are now.

We came close in this window, according to reports, but eventually, I'd say, unless we go up this year, we will enevitably end up selling a load of demonstrable quality and be faced with replacing them with players most haven't heard of. That will be a massive test for the fan base, understandably so.

Personally speaking I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt to this point, but I suspect that might not be the view of the wider fanbase, so it's whether KLD is on board and convinced or not.

Luckily, we're 100% going up this year so it's irrelevant! :1980_boogie_down:

He’s another Eredivisie flop. I feel like players from there are either phenomenal or ****e, very little middle ground

It's mentality for me. He has some ability, BUT, he's not as good as he thinks he is and doesn't dedicate himself enough to make the most of what talent he's got. It's been enough in a lower standard league for him to get away with it for a while, but in higher standard, high pressure league he gets exposed and his petulance and lack of effort comes out. Contrast that to Amad who did work hard, especially at the start of his time here, and we saw develope game on game, week on week.

He's not the only one, I think Jermaine Lens was another good example, he rarely lived up to his billing when he was here. But you're right, the phenomenal ones are the ones who knuckle down and make the most of their ability. The rest don't seem to have the right mentality, so they flop.

Spot on.

I forget the quote from Mowbray in regards to Amad but wasn’t it something like ‘if our best players do the hard yards we’ll win’ etc
