Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said: "Ross has made a significant contribution in his time with us and I know many of our supporters will be sad to see him depart for this new challenge. Despite a lot of outside noise suggesting otherwise, Ross has always conducted himself professionally on and off the pitch and I know that he would have wanted to contribute more in the last 12 months. Although it was not our preferred choice, Ross indicated that he saw his future away from Wearside and from that moment onwards, we have worked to ensure we protect the Club in the best possible way. We thank him for his contribution and wish him well.”
Well done KS.

Aye I seen that, deserved too mate, I know not many get along with him but at the end of the day he’s like us and wants the best for SAFC, the snippets you give us a greatly appreciated

No Prem loan seems a strange one with the reputation we’ve had with recent players you’d have thought teams would have been looking to send players our way.

Yeah it does. I wonder if our wage budget is on a knife edge given we've brought quite a few in (hopefully) and not let many go.

Sorry, but that's poor form. Our best striker since Defoe mk1 (some may say better) and was professional throughout. No way we'd spend £25k pw on him, and the fact others would suggest he is worth it to those that can afford it.

Cheers Ross. A sad day. :emoticon-0150-hands:emoticon-0137-clapp
Just an opinion. Don’t expect everyone to agree, but for a player who Was playing lower Scottish league football, picked up a serious injury and still got offered a bumper contract.

i won’t be clapping him when he returns against us. Far from it. Grateful for what he did, but paused at him
For the way it’s ending. Doesn’t sit right with me

Just thinking that we haven’t really utilised loans. Suppose it leaves room for us to loan in January if need be.

...since Defoe...

To put it bluntly that's not much of a challenge. When you're comparing strikers since Defoe, you're talking about the likes of James Vaughan, Grigg, Ashley Fletcher, Lewis Grabban, Kyle Lafferty, Aiden O'Brien. Charlie Wyke comes in second after Stewart, so that's saying it all.
Edit. I forgot to include Danny Graham. I guess the therapy must be working!

Assuming the 2 french lads are done then you have to say its been a bloody good window.

Kept the core of the squad together, what appear to be very good players have arrived and only 1 loan player, which I think it great as it means we are developing and improving our own.

Can't wait to see the new lads play

Its mental

The only players we've lost that actually heavily contributed to a play off campaign last season are Amad and Gooch.

Replaced with about 10 players.
