"Stewart sounds like he's getting close" - could do with a bit more context around that
It's in here

"I have to sit here and be confident that by the end of this window we'll have some strikers in the building and by the end of the international break, the likes of Ross Stewart who's out on the grass kicking balls about every day now, who's to say he's not about ready."

If we could keep him till Jan to get the new lads sorted that would be class, but I’m also a fan of 09. He was class last game 09. Baath better for the likes of Millwall

It's weird to have a squad where we don't like leaving players out ...

... as opposed to squads where we wanted most of them dropped <laugh>

Personally, I wouldn't be reading very much into what TM , or what any manager says, mostly at least.. Its a narrow subject and everything has been asked and answered multiple times by him and others.

It's like old time Kremlinoligists poring over the latest text from Brezhnev's most recent wheat production bulletins. " But what did he really mean?" He probably just meant what he said. Just words.

129 points for all the teams to play for. It's a lot, we have barely started. We'll get other players in to help, and we'll get better, no doubt about it at all.

I think this just be the only time I would prefer if none of the squad were to be sold on but we all know that because of the nature of football, players will always move on to pastures new.

I don't know how reliable they are, but it's here from 'Newsnow', too . . . .
Sunderland have finally agreed a deal to sign Nasiriy Rusyn according to Ukrainian reporter Igor Burbas, via his Telegram channel.

The club have been trailing the Zorya Luhansk forward all summer, and with the days dwindling down before the transfer window shuts, it looks like we finally have our man.

He’s claimed that the deal is for four years, with the option of a further year, and that the player will arrive on Wearside soon to have a medical and sign a contract.
I think there as good as Nixon
Mate

Last season's results with the two of them in tandem contradict that iirc.

We seem less attack minded with them both there and it seems to create a big gap between the midfield pushing on and them. If a ball's played past our midfield it means the opposition are running at Ballard and Batth.

And, if they both play, we should expect them to chip in with goals from corners ...

... they have the height and strength but, apparently, not the determination.
