Wires crossed I think, one point is that the saudi money will filter through meaning prem teams buy/players available for loan and the Qatar money we got for lihadji being misinterpreted as saudi money, Atleast that’s how I’ve read it anyway

As things are quiet, and people are bored, here's one of Smug's rambling posts for you all <laugh>

Assuming everything Bob says is true you'd have to say he skates on very thin ice.

If he's actually in close contact/friends with people running the club they may well tell him club business in confidence ...

... posting that to a rabble like us is betraying that confidence, especially when it's contradicting what Speakman, Mowbray, whoever are saying publicly.

Disclaimer: Don't feel obliged to believe the following or read it if my username has already been enough to condemn it.

During the aborted FPP takeover, which Donald blew, I was approached by a 'new member', on a pm message, who slipped me some unequivocal nuggets but relatively small.

I asked why he hadn't posted and he said he was employed by the group and didn't want to compromise his position. As a fanatical Sunderland supporter I was probably a sitting duck.

Whatever, he said I could post anything he told me providing I didn't identify him.

I asked a few questions until I was told something I could have verified by a wealthy ex-employer who has a business and solicitors in the US, Texas as it happens. One was the FPP people. They, and my friend's legal team, practice is in a block where various legal entities meet and, as always, gossip about their various clients. Chatting round the water cooler about super rich clients must be interesting and irresistible.

Now comes the part where I got way too overexcited and cocky.

I naively swallowed everything the bloke said and posted most of it. He'd feed me some things that have subsequently proved to be correct despite seeming totally unlikely like FPP talking to an ex-England manager.

But he'd also tell me things about Donald and Methven that were supposed to be highly confidential. Because I used to be quite popular, trusted by a fair few on RTG and able to express myself I was no doubt seen as a convenient mouthpiece ... fair enough, my fault.

After a month or so some of what I'd posted started appearing in the media and, on a couple of occasions, RTG was mentioned. It could be, of course, that this person or others were feeding a reporter as well as 'Reiver'.

At this point the weird obsessive RTG Mod, Pancho, perma-banned me over there. Fair enough, I could go back on, with a different username, but it's become too flakey over there.

Next, in this saga, was that Pancho followed me here and, under an assumed identity, started to argue with me and contradict what I was posting ... he didn't get far.

When that failed he created a new username with which he pm'd me pretending to be a solicitor for Donald. It's possible, of course, that it really was a solicitor with the same phraseology and punctuation. Whatever, I was told that I must 'cease and desist' immediately or face legal action.

I posted this shyte on the forum and he vanished like a fart in a hurricane <laugh>

I've been distracted while writing this so now can't remember the point tbh ... oh yeah, I remember now.

It's that, whoever you are, accepting 'info' from 'credible' people in important situations doesn't always mean you should repeat it or that it's actually true.

I'm still told things, such as Patterson was told of interest from a PL club but decided to stay here and that we've a medical today for a striker, but I choose not to post details.

I've already been ridiculed for being ITK, banned from a forum and actually shunned by people I'd previously helped with tickets at a game, Wycombe away as it happens. I only have a few who hate me on here so I'd rather not repeat the exercise.

I realise, at this point, I'm now only talking to myself ...

... so it's time to actually get down to the offy for my match day essentials <cheers>

Would love to take credit but saw it on twitter or RTG a few weeks ago, can't remember where exactly now, but whenever I see his name, it's all I think about
We all copy off other people, don't we, but it doesn't necessarily mean that we're after credit as if we're the only one that's thought about it.
If something's worth posting and you agree with it there's absolutely now't wrong with posting it, is there :emoticon-0148-yes:

Good post Smug. It would be naïve not to think that some info is leaked out deliberately by the club and other stuff comes from loose lips but the key part is that things can change at the last minute and that's where posters on RTG try to nail people to the wall. Hopefully we are a more sensible bunch over here

For those of us who've been around for many years on RTG, and then over here....in several guises....everything you say has already been evident.
What matters is that you're an ultra fan,and you have no need to justify any of the past in that regard.
Most of the flack you've had has been due to envy.....the most deadly of the 7 sins.
Chill marra.

If it makes you feel any better i’ve had ‘info’ from a lad who knows a couple of our current players and not one bit of it has come true so I’m glad I’ve never posted any of it :emoticon-0102-bigsm

TBH there's very little credit posting info, no matter how true.

Get it right = bighead

Get it wrong = b/s merchant

You need a thick skin as Prehab, Magnus, etc would tell you.
