Really hoping for some transfer news or gossip to get this thread back on track
Here is a theory, that makes sense to me. Came from my mate who is involved in the agent side. He said he would think Stewart now stays with us for the season at least. No inside info, just his view on what happens in these situations. He reckons buying injured players, those that have been out for so long, is really hard to do for a number of reasons. Therefore he is here until Jan. Then whatever our league position is we wont sell unless for a silly fee because it wont be worth our while, whether we are chasing promotion or not. Too much money and future appeal to players to risk, i.e. finishing 8th is better than 14th for next summer window. He said it would be no surprise if he signs a new deal here, to pay him a sensible amount but with a release clause that is reasonable to a premier league or SPL team. Speculation but makes a lot of logical sense to me, and I can go along eith that as an outcome.

Stewart is the one player for me that would be borderline impossible to replace without breaking the bank. He stays fit I reckon he scores 25 goals in the season. Clarke and Roberts both quality but there’s an abundance of decent wingers - a striker who looks as good in our system as Stewart and can score 20+ goals wouldn’t be cheap.

Agreed. He's more clinical that Gyokeres and look how much he went for. Same age too.

Effectively if you get a ready made replacement, technically he costs similar. Can't see us spending that kind of money till we are in the prem.

Stewart without the injury and with 3 years on his contract goes for the type if money the club wouldn't knock back imo.

With the injury and contract running out, would rather keep him for the season and let him leave for nowt
Same. Get 30 games out of him this season and it could be the difference in going up, or staying in this league

30 is looking a lot mind! Even if he gets back by mid October, it wouldn't be surprising if his lack of game time caused a few other niggles.

But, if he's still worried about his achilles, which he probably is, he can look at the athletics in Budapest yesterday. Katarina Johnson Thompson won a gold medal in the heptathlon, a grueling five discipline event involving a lot of running fast and jumping. She is 30, and ruptured her achilles over three years ago.

My guess, based on how I understood what my mate was saying, is we might see him sign a contract November time if he is back playing. That contract would give him an increase he probably deserves but may have a release clause in that can only be activated in after this season, but could be for a relatively modest amount. So for sake of argument, he may stay and bang in 15 goals or more, but gets his move for maybe £7 or £8m. At that point he will be in demand and can maximise his next move, we have got £7m rather than nowt. We will need to remember if this does happen the club will have done well to get some money and have done well by a player again, which is getting noticed. It will feel cheap and frustrating, but out of the circumstances will be a good outcome for all. This is all speculation of course.

Think Mogga said end of Sept? Or is that his return to training?
Last report I saw (Ronny Gill) said back playing end of Sept

Well if you all wanted a bit of positivity, Coventry have just signed Ayari on loan from Brighton just in time to play us :emoticon-0102-bigsm highly thought of young midfielder they signed for about £4m last season, be Hamers replacement this season.

Not sure if ya saying ya mate is connected and saying this is what the deal the club are trying for or you and your mate have been chatting and your mate has come up with his idea.

I agree though as annoying as it would be to see him go for such a low amount if he comes back and does well its a lot better than coming back doing well amd going for **** all!

Or even better he comes back does well we get promoted and he stays.

My mate isnt connected in any direct way. This is no ITK on my part at all. It is him giving his opinion based on many years in the world of agents, and hearing about how our club has been transformed by KLD, Speakman and Harvey, and in his opinion Mowbray who he has dealt with in terms of how we operate.

Interesting mate. If the club deals with it this way not only will it be very professional but they are certainly making the most out of what could be a big loss!

Starting to get fairly annoyed at the amount of stick Speakman is getting like.

He’s clearly got a very good eye for talent in terms of recruitment, and will be working on the budget set by the owner.

Some say that he comes across arrogant, there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and maybe some are misinterpreting it. Even if he was arrogant though, I couldn’t care less as long as he’s a success.

The only thing that’s annoying is lack of depth in certain areas such as striker and CDM, but I’m certain we’d be working on it.
Anyone who doesn't rate Speakman is a fvck1ng idiot

Do you live to spread negativity

I wonder if Mitrovic’s move means Stansfield gets delayed by a few days. Also, I was reading a neutral’s view about him saying his technical style will suit us. Haven’t seen much of him but I’m quite hopeful about him settling quickly and doing well.
