The sustainability model is to sell your better players for a significant price (huge matgin) however the plan must be to have the next player on the conveyer belt to hit the ground running..i.e Brighton players etc. I dont think we have that part of the model yet so it would hamper our aims for the season.

unless something drastically changes at this moment roberts and clarke will be sunderland players when the window shuts

doesn’t really take a drastic change tho does it. Takes an acceptable bid.

I’d argue (and many would disagree) that arak Sakyi replacing Roberts wouldn’t actually weaken us massively and would allow us to bring in quality elsewhere as well.

I don’t want to sell Roberts either. But if the club got a good offer you can definitely see why they’d be tempted to accept.

roberts isn't going anywhere

(Transfer related) Question, a hypothetical one so try and hold off with the pelters, re the "modle". If the modle is to buy young and cheap, develop and sell (good strategy for future proofing), at what point and when do we actually build a settled team and "kick on"?

Aye but Rak Sakyi would only be on loan. I’d rather we just offer Roberts a new contract.

Never. You use the funds you bring in to build the better team, settled teams don’t really exist in football these days. Only 3/4 clubs in world football aren’t selling clubs. It’s the boring comparison now but look at Brighton, finished in European places and have sold 2 of their best players.

All teams have to integrate ins and outs each year. The model is for young players to be brought in and developed rather than acquired, I guess the idea is you sell 2 or 3 every season when you’re ready.
