HahahaWouldn't that make him a winger?
See, what I did there was.....

Then why wasn't he replaced this summer, when clearly our preferred choice replacement was available?
And then why sign Dack for him on a 1 year + 1 year deal?
No, obviously not. It’s spinWere we offering bigger wages in League One? Batth and Pritch leaving for other reasons like family/age possibly but freeing up wages has also been mentioned. Could we really have been offering such great wages in League One, so that getting rid of those allows us to bring in multiple replacements.
.
Great Post and I agree we can get there, but it will need more financial input from our owners to get there. To make clubs sustainable requires investment and I think some people probably don't understand what sustainability actually means. Brighton as mentioned earlier are or have been put forward as a sustainable club but Man City are also a sustainable club. they both have gotten to that point in similar ways but with Man City probably more by funneling money into club through sponsorships rather than loans. However large amounts of cash were invested in both teams to get them to become sustainable and even profitable.
A sustainable premier league club is a very valuable thing and is not to be underestimated. Clubs that year on year make a loss are can still be sold for billions (Man Utd) so sustainable ones can become even more valuable. how much is Brighton worth now ??? I dare say if Tony Bloom was to sell Brighton on the open market today he would be lookin at the best part of 5 or 6 hundred million so his loan which he will probably get some back this year may well be settled over the next few years and as long as they are smart in the transfer market and stay in premier league then his clubs value will probably not change too much.
For SAFC how do we get near that, for me it has already started, how much was our club worth 2 seasons ago, probably 35 to 40 million against what it is wort now, my guess would be closer to 100 to 120 million. That is a lot of growth in a couple of years and sometimes I don't think the fan base sees it.
IMO SAFC are a far bigger club than Brighton with a bigger fanbase world wide and far better chance of capitalizing on that financially. Smart investments and good management and the sky is the limit. Man City were us 15-20 years ago and however they built there club and brand (and not sure if I fully understand or agree with all of the financials) they are currently one of the best teams in the world worth considerably more than the money that has been invested into it and is being run on the most sustainably. People say we can not get there but I think why not !!!
Not sure that statement is true as it seems you have based that on nothing but age, he has bought the club for a reasonably low price then maneuvered the 2 wasters out without them receiving anything like the profit they thought they were going to get. He has appointed a new board and brought on data analysts nutritionists and directors of football, they have retained our cat 1 academy status, we got promoted then the playoffs. We are now looking to extend the capacity at the ground and a full refurb of facilities. We now have a guy who was in charge of the finances of the MLS working for our club to help drive forward our commecial and financial arm.Mate....i'm not saying its a good thing or bad thing, and its just my opinion, but I just believe Speakman has an awful lot of power at the club...I also said, I actually rate Speakman, so i'm certainly not being critical of the guy in any way... I am ASSUMING because KLD is so young an inexperienced in business, Speakman is taking a much more hands on approach...just a thought

If that’s what they’ve said then it’s utter bullshit.Yet 2 posters this morning have inferred that KLD doesn't trust the coach so it's holding us back on signings?
He also said they had bids in for quite a few strikers last January but that the clubs were wanting too much money or werent wanting to sell - said they didnt want to just sign any strikerNo, obviously not. It’s spin
Speakman and co will say anything to “explain away” whatever he is doing at the time
Like when he said Dajaku was actually a striker last September and then later in the February that we don’t even play with a striker, when trying to explain away the lack of bothering to recruit strikers and leaving ourselves short (again)
If that’s what they’ve said then it’s utter bullshit.
I think the lesson should be don't gamble and leave yourself too short or it adds pressure and costHe also said they had bids in for quite a few strikers last January but that the clubs were wanting too much money or werent wanting to sell - said they didnt want to just sign any striker
No-one said you did, it was inferred by you and Bob that the owner doesn't trust the head coach.Just to confirm. I have not said that a lack of trust in Tone is holding us back in signings.

You both commented in and around a diacussion about potentially KLD not trusting the recruitment team.
Neither of you outright stated it, but it is implied imo
I think that there has been quite significant investment but that is probably not what fans want to hear, the investment to date has been on coaching staff ,data analytics, pitches at academy nutrition for the team scouting, in short building the foundations to help the club move forward. Its frustrating as these things take time and I don't think its about whether or not we spend the money I think it is when it is the right time to spend it. IMO now is maybe not right as I think on our current trajectory we will be in Prem sooner rather than later and any money saved now makes us more appealing to investors then as I think when we finally get rid of some bad legacy contracts of sponsors and kit manufacturers etc. we may well see a bit of cash coming into the club to help with player acquisitions. Like I say a log term plan and as fans a think a pit of patience is required as these guys in business terms are actually moving very quick considering.Great Post and I agree we can get there, but it will need more financial input from our owners to get there.
Yet every time spending x,y,z is mentioned the same excuses of "bankrolling the club" "throwing money away" "net spend" etc etc are used, yet to get to the promised land of a sustainable club we have to have investment and probably with the stupid way football is a huge amount of it.
Basically football is ****ed and unless their is a great reset financially we will always need an owner with deep pockets or the biggest slice of luck ever
But i also dont want them just signing any player just to get numbers inI think the lesson should be don't gamble and leave yourself too short or it adds pressure and cost

I’m hoping you mean build him up as a player rather than what you were insinuating in your earlier post. They absolutely need to build Jobe. One of the reasons he come here. They will use Dack and Jobe. With Rigg being the third option.
I like Prichard more than all of these but it's the decision they have made.
I actually think that what they are trying to do with him makes sense. He’s a good player but on the way down, might even get a fee for him. We’re replacing with a ready made with potentially more goal threat in Dack and a younger player to develop. Where it’s gone wrong is not having a striker so we immediately lose Dack to that position and Dack joining late and unfit. I think that was down to Dack sniffing big money elsewhere but still it means that the time for Pritch to go isn’t right. He remains a better option at this point at a time we can’t afford to weaken ourselves any more. Similar with Baath. From a football perspective both better kept until Jan but that would cost us financially.Younger and cheaper than prichard who is leaving. Will be rotated as they try to build brand Jobe.
Here’s hoping to the right signings in by the end of the window (based on your first paragraph which I agree with). But i also dont want them just signing any player just to get numbers in
Anyway heres hoping to a new signing today
