£8 million for Cannon seems high, but is probably the going rate for young, English strikers with championship experience.

Personally I'd have had Simms back

Man U signed Hojlund for over £70m, lad is 20 and only scored 9 in 32 last season…prices like that are having a knock on effect with all strikers.

Im certain we will get someone decent in on a loan though.

If they want £8m for him then it makes the (rumoured) £15m valuation of Clarke look ridiculously low.

Personally I think the Ukrainian lad will be in by the middle of the week.

I agree with this mate, £20m at least in todays market. Think originally he went for £10m to spurs and he has definitely improved by more than 50%. Price should reflect that (plus his long contract).

Yeah that seems like it’s fairly advanced given the Instagram thing the other day, still find it mad that’s how we find out about signings these day, I miss frantically trying to read teletext before the page changed so you didn’t have wait for it to come back round again :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Wasn't the crack, at the time, that Stewart was just an inexperienced lad, from a Mickey Mouse league, and was one for the future ...

... just like Mayenda and Hemir.
That’s partly true, though he was much older. It’s possible they’ll also come good though there was less quality in that league. No bother signing players to develop as long as we have a first 18 or so fit for purpose.

We sold Bridges in the Championship over 20 year ago for around 5.5m
He’d played for us in that division for 2 whole seasons, featured and scored in the premier league the year before and a handful of games in the championship at 17 the year before that. Waaay more experienced and proven.

But transfer fees have gone through the roof in that space of time.

The problem is that 8m is nowt for Premiership teams, yet it's unaffordable to most Championship teams

It seems people are keen to ignore the existence of Hemir and Mayenda, or denigrate their possible talent, in case it dilutes their indignation..

That’s the biggest issue, it’s going to become almost impossible to make the premier league without flying very close to the FFP rules. The gap is going to be insurmountable.

Give it a couple of years and a some big clubs will go bust.
