We need quality players and if the club thinks we can improve by bringing a certain player in then they should do it
You should also prioritise. Otherwise we may have 10 good defenders because they were available
Note I’m not saying we shouldn’t go for this fella, but what Billy is intimating is we have more important positions to look at.

Which we are looking at. Just because we are going for a rb, doesn't mean we are not pushing other deals through

Because we need strikers, not more defenders.
We had a poor defensive record last season and ended it playing Roberts at right back. Huggins, while a seemingly good player, cannot be relied upon to stay fit. Dare I say similarly Cirkin and Alese are both pretty injury prone. We definitely need full back cover and this lad can play both sides and would be a serious upgrade on Gooch

You can work on more than one deal at once, if this has progressed quicker than a forward deal that doesn’t mean we have prioritised it

Clarke is much more direct and drives forward. His goals tally says it all
The Driving forward part of your post was often forgotten last season.

At one point I checked the stats and Clarke was head and shoulders above anyone else in the team for carries with the ball. If memory serves he was on something like 9,000 yards of forward carries with the ball and next best was 5,000 yards

I get that but if a quality player becomes available you try n sign them. You dont say 'hes not a striker so lets leave it', if they improve the team and the squad we go for it.

Theyll be after strikers as well, weve already signed 2 this window (just a shame that 1s injured already!!l) so they know the need for a striker

I have concerns at fullback as huggins n alese have had injury issues and cirkin had loads last season so not surprised if we do sign a fullback. Still talk of batth leaving so if he does i could see alese being used a cb rather than a LB

Just as we're trying to take good young players from other clubs we have to accept bigger clubs will try to do that with ours ...

... if Clarke goes we have to be grown up and not eat our play-doh in temper.

This is what always gets me when clubs go for our players. We do the same when we buy players. Swings and roundabouts I'm afraid. Have to learn to live with it.
Disclaimer - if we lose Clarke or Ballard to a ****e club I'll be fuming

If he has been flagged as someone who could be a key player for us then I don’t see why we wouldn’t go for him.

The data analysis we do now seems to be incredibly thorough, although I agree it’s definitely not a position we are short in.[/QUOTE]

That was my thought.
