Too many players not playing regularly causes issues, as seen at Chelsea. Group was far too big and too many ego’s upset that they aren’t playing.
This, there’ll be lots of individual discontent and that could easily impact on team spirit. It will be very difficult to manage.

Not to mention that part of our identity now is developing and giving opportunities to youngsters. Playing time is fundamental to that and is more difficult to provide when available minutes are limited by a larger playing squad.

Im confused is Mayenda coming straight into the first team, or was he bought for the U23s?

Also has Cairney been spotted at the AOL yet <whistle>

I'd say first team tbh.

Whoever we play won't have to be 'the lone man up front' doing it all. We'll have the likes of Roberts, Clarke, Dock, Pritchard or whoever's left flying around ...

... if the striker/s can spray the ball wide, run the channels and get into the six yard box they'll have plenty of chances to score.

Both of the new lads look up for it.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: WHO ARE YOU?

It's fair to say none of us had heard of Eliezer Mayenda until very recently, so we chatted to Sochaux fan group 'La Zone Soch' to discuss what kind of striker we've just signed.

What are Mayenda's strengths?
His main strengths are speed and power. He is very strong for his age and extremely direct. He is exciting when he had the ball and is running at the defence.

What are his weaknesses?
Finishing and consistency. That is probably because he didn't play too much with the senior team, so perhaps with more minutes he will achieve that consistency.

How much potential do you think he has?
Mayenda played little with the professional team because he had differences over his contract with management. However, he has great potential given his age. He has already appeared with the youth teams of Spain and looks to be a great player in the future.

Do you think he will adapt well to the English game? What kind of forward is he?
The English championship may suit him given his profile. He's a direct transition player. He can play on the whole front of the attack (AG, AD, BU). His strong foot is the left.

Overall, how much have you seen of him?
He made his Ligue 2 debut last season. He played 15 games; 1 start and 14 substitutes. Here is his one and only goal this season for Mayenda in Ligue 2.

As usual ,I know the square root of sod all about most of those we sign. Look forward to seeing them all though, particularly watching the younguns develop. We haven't got many wrong recently.

Expect two or three will be leaving. But nine subs, ( insane IMO) should make it easier to handle a biggish squad .

I think it's 31 players in our squad excluding Diamond. 2 have gone out on loan. So 29 players to choose from does seem rather oversized.
Players will leave. I reckon one of 09/Batth will go. Embleton, Pritchard, Stewart, and I'd of said Matete but he's now injured. 9 subs allowed mind.

I actually hope your info is spot on mate, it may seem like he would be to much for us , but a lot may have thought the same about Pritchard who took a massive pay cut, I know AP was trying to resurrect his career and Cairney is in the twilight of his but it could be for all sorts of reasons, who could be doing his coaching badges and wants to go to a club he could possibly progress on the coaching side and where better to do that then Sunderland.
I may also be a million miles away, however I would never be surprised at some of the things this club are capable of. They did bring in Jack Clarke who in less than 2 years if we sold him for his market value would cover the cost we have spent on our entire squad, yet some still don't seem impressed on the model
I am with you mate. Every chance a player like Cairney would come here in my opinion. It isnt De Bruyne is it. Who knows what his motivations are and what salary we might offer. He is likely one of Fulhams lower earners. Could be a coaching offer like you said. Could be all sorts of things going on and we are a bloody attractive footballing opportunity for players. Too many just dismissing this deal as not possible for me.
