In terms of the "experienced" defensive midfielder Messengo is available on a free. He's only 21 but played over 100 championship games. Represents good value and a decent amount of games for his age.

I think a veteran would be the way to go. I don't see the logic in signing someone the same age as Patterson unless it means we intend to sell him, which seems unlikely.

Experienced keeper to mentor and be a safe pair of hands, Patterson in the middle as first choice and one or two like Matt Young getting games here and there would be right for me.
