I actually think we still need to sign a CM, we need another cdm type since evans is out for a while.

Matete will leave then i think one of pritchard or embleton will go

Neil ekwah bellingham n rigg seem the best 4 at the minute, Ba could play there as well but i think hes bettwr from a wider position

Note - when i meant the 4 best ones at the minute, im meaning in the deeper cm positions rather than the no10 role
We appear to be playing more of a deeper one behind 2 than two deeper and a number 10 in preseason. Jobe definitely playing deeper than I thought he would

I keep seeing Jon Dahl Tomasson praised as a progressive young manager ...

.. from what I saw of Blackburn, last season, it was more like Sunday League than Champions League.

Seriously, Mowbray makes him look prehistoric.
Couldn't agree more. If Mowbray had a foreign name and was 15 years younger he would be being linked to jobs allover.

Thankfully for us, he's old and from Boro so is ignored while we get to see some of the best football seen round here in decades

AN leaving turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Don't think any of us expected such attacking free flowing class to watch even breathtaking at times football from TM but it is so much better than what we would have seen under AN imo.

AN would have played it safe imo, no way would we have seen them class goals we saw last season under AN.

I've been wrong about all kinds of managers and players ...

... never more so than with Mowbray.

He looks and sounds like a Stockton doorman but is smarter than me x100 <doh>

Again, couldn't agree more. AN would have moaned constantly about the squad, played negative football then been sacked with us near the bottom at Christmas.

I read a fair bit about Mowbray when he was appointed and was impressed, even more impressed when he got the lads playing.

I honestly believe this year with a seasons experience we will absolutely batter some teams

I know we are getting all excited about the signings that we have made and potential ones coming but let’s not forget the likes of Gooch and O’Nien. These guys are the heart beat of the club. Maybe not as talented as some of the mercenaries we have had but these guys in attitude and commitment to the cause have been outstanding. With our progress going forward and hopefully the success that it will bring we will need a bigger squad. Hope these lads are a part of that. They’re Sunderland through and through. Haway the lads!!!

They both also cover a number of positions and give 100% no matter where they play.

They will get games this year and will be important players in the squad imo

Liverpool echo:

"Sunderland's interest does not seem to have lasted long, while newly promoted Luton Town's interest in Cannon is said to be wide of the mark. The Liverpool ECHO reports that Tony Mowbray's side have turned their attentions elsewhere owing to the finances, with the Black Cats believing they do not have the budget to bring the forward to the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis."

We've become savvy after all these years ...

... I wanna be eighteen again <laugh>
