Simms is a no-brainer at £7 million. Embarrassing, really -- The club with the 10th highest attendance in the English football pyramid, and all we have is a diaper dandy and a ruptured Achilles with a turned head as our strike force.

There’s not even a debate as to whether Roscoe is better than Simms he’s levels ahead.

Simms still useful, still a decent player. There’s not many better than a fit Stewart outside the PL, it’s no slur on Ellis.

I’d have had him back in a flash for £3million or so with add one.
Agree Nads

Understand Leyton Orient have agreed a deal to sign Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn on loan. [HASHTAG]#Boro[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#lofc[/HASHTAG]

Could mean Leyton Orient don't want Bass now

How is it embarrassing? The club obviously don't rate him at that price. We'll spend money but only on the right player.

100% agree

I wouldn't pay £7m for him tbh. If we didn't go for him it suggests we think we can find better elsewhere for the same or less. Given our recent track record I'm happy to just sit back and trust them.

Comparison of Simms and Stewart is valid but not entirely fair. Stewart is 4 years older.

I do think Stewart is better but will he be in 4 years? Possibly not. And that’s when Coventry will be looking to sell Simms for £20m

I think Stewart has a natural 'football intelligence' that isn't easy to teach. His movement off the ball is fantastic.

Simms might produce the same number of goals as he develops but I don't think he'll ever contribute as much in general play.

Good point. If Coventry think he can develop into a 15 or 20m player, then it's worth paying the 7m now. It's a risk but could be worth it.

Though we don't actually know they are paying 7m up front. Could be 5m with add ons or any other combination.

Simms first touch isn’t there though. And not like he’s 19 the lad.

That’s a killer the way we play. He will get goals and I would absolutely have liked him back but him and Gyokeres chalk and cheese in terms of ‘finesse’

Tight a rses.... but their choice

Obviously, I for one, do not know what the club have offered and what Stewart has asked for, so how big is the gap?

So in general if the club say, does have a wage structure, the main goal scorer will be the highest paid.. if Stewart leaves lets hope we have excellent replacements, otherwise we have shot ourselves in the foot. For how much?

Part of me is sick of this ongoing saga, but probably his injury has created the hiatus.

Then part of me understands that Stewart needs to maximise his earnings, in the few years of his playing career left.

Hay ho..

I know how embarrassing of the club to not over spend on a player. I wish we would go back to the days of overspending on players!!!!

Our diaper dandys did pretty well last season!

I dont think simms is worth near that amount so pleased we didnt go for him at that price - there is better out there for that money
