Although I still think the rumoured £15m bids are too low I don’t think we can assume it will cost more than that to replace Ballard. We’ve proved that by buying the likes of Ballard and Clarke for next to nothing in the first place. The same goes for Stewart.

There will be gems out there who we can pick up for next to nothing, and I’m certain there are already a few here at the club who will take their chance and step up should it arise. Just like Stewart did when Wyke left.

I agree but what if we get ‘acceptably high’ bids for Stewart Clarke and Ballard and all leave. Don’t you worry for our performances and impact on the squad?

Nope. Burnley romped the league after spending about £40m after losing some of their key players. We have to work within financial constraints so unless we make money we can’t spend much.

The fact KLD has said the aim is promotion would encourage me that we won’t be shy to reinvest money if we receive it. Losing them all on deadline day with no replacements then yeah, I’d be worried. But that won’t happen.

£15m is a huge amount of money in the championship. Hamer and Gyokores cost less than £2.5m combined. Josh Cullen was the best midfielder in the league by a mile and cost £3.5m. Ahmedodzic top drawer for Sheff Utd £3m.

I applaud the new owners but I worry that their cumulative approach means we will miss opportunities to go up this season. I get it but my optimism is under threat. Let’s see what happens with our players.
Nobody has said we are selling anyone l, it's all rumours that people are believing. We don't have a clue if we have received any bids for these players

Is £15 million and a massive step back more valuable though?

Yeah, there’s likely more steals out there. Have we identified them though? Or have a PL club? Do we know they gonna fit?

Stronger league this year and we finished 6th, it’s not progress to weaken the team.

By the way, there’s no suggestion at all from the club that they wanna shift either on, we need to remember this.

Club has encouraged nothing of the sort.

Conpletely devils advocate here but let’s say Man Utd have said they want £15m+ a buy back and sell on for Amad.

plucking those numbers out of thin air but I’m just saying that IF we sold Clarke for £15m it doesn’t necessarily mean we go into the season weaker. There will be plenty of players as good or even better than Clarke available for less, we just need to find them.

edit - and to be clear I’m not saying we SHOULD sell him. Unless he’s asking to leave. Which by all accounts he isn’t. I trust the club to do what’s best with the above in mind

Can I just say what a nice alternative atmosphere it is over here. The tension over the road is palpable at the moment, everyone’s absolutely fuming about retail and digital ticketing…

It’s all fun and games until away tickets are digital and you turn up off your trolley after 6 hours on the daft bus with a phone that’s dead and can’t get into the ground :emoticon-0102-bigsm

My plan B is my Apple Watch, means keeping that bugger charged as well though

I’m relaxed as anything. Trust the club 100% to do what’s right for the club, whether I agree with it or not.

We’ve been talking about the model and people leaving for over 12 months now and still nobody we’d not want to leave has left.
This is me 100% - this time last year I was clamming for signings as we were going up into a much better level, this year for me there isn’t an urgent clamour, especially with the early business done, as for outgoings, I trust them completely to do what’s best

Getting the website open so we could buy a ticket in the first place, to something other than an imaginary game against Rotherham, would be a good start.

It's inevitable that some players will go. It's a sign that they're good players after all and the recruitment is right.

When though, this season is a bit early to sell imo. If the lads are happy to stay they stay and look at it again after another season. If they develop like they have then the money goes up! Meanwhile we can give those who are probably going to be their replacements more time (Bennette, Lihadji etc)

It's all very well getting 15m for a player. But it's just money and we aren't going to replace him with a 15m player. We will be severely weakened and it will be a case of hoping that one of the new signings comes good. Unlikely to happen overnight. So our chances of starting fast and making a push for promotion are reduced.
We will reinvest in squad but there are no guarantees we can keep.finding these gems. It really depends on how much the hierarchy want promotion.

I disagree that we would be severely weakened by losing Ballard. He played less than half our games last year. For 2/3rds of the season he contributed nothing. If we can get £15m for someone who (whatever the reason) was a bit part player last season, I don't see why we would turn it down.

I am calm about the speculation around our players because it shows we are on the right path, its been years since clubs higher up the leagues than us coveted our players. My take is the owner and the players & staff know how close we came and are well aware that we are not far away from premier league. The atmosphere and good mood around the club is infectious and its obvious the players are loving their time here and long may it continue. Some of these lads have been at premier league clubs and had to drop a level to play regularly, that tells me they want to play and enjoy playing. The likes of Clarke could have sat on his big contract at Spurs and picked up the money but he wants to play, there is no bigger club outside the Premier League than us and we have proven we are on the rise again. 34,000 season tickets sold already means we will have far bigger crowds than Leeds, Leicester and alike. I know where I would want to be strutting my stuff next season. No coincidence either that the Sky Cameras kept rocking up to watch the lads, its entertaining, the atmosphere is class and we have some of the best up and coming kids in the country. Its the perfect storm.

Too true we are on the rise and should show a bit of confidence and maybe a little bit of arrogance as we are slowly starting to earn that right be it through the football played or the crowds we have we are on an upward trend and I think it will continue as long as the club nurture it with the fans and bring us along for the ride.

Of course you would but do you think the club would sell all three???? Or is it just panic in case they do. I have stated in previous posts listen to KS he has stated we are building a squad capable of promotion. That would mean not selling all assets in one go as it would harm the build so I am relaxed and letting them do their buisness and will hope they get the big decisions right.
