Here’s a one, how many ‘best in position in league’ do we reckon we have?

Patto close
Cirkin easily ( assuming Livaramento goes)
Roberts left sided winger easily
Stewart up top (if here)
Ballard is up there.

We have some players for the level for sure. Boro are weaker as it stands, Norwich signings I’d be mortified by, Watford have little left that you’d envy.

3 down, Millwall, Boro, Coventry, West Brom & Stoke (yeah, I think they be decent)

6 from those 9 is tight. CM we aren’t weak there, but you could see some being stronger there. That’s our battle.

I think those you've listed are up there but i wouldn't say Cirkin is easily the best left back in the league. He's close though.

Luke Thomas at Leicester is really good. Junior Firpo at Leeds. And that Ryan Giles who was on loan at Boro last year will definitely be coming back into the championship at some point this window.

Toughest one for me. Derby obvs favourites but they weren’t great last season. Need to replace McGoldricks goals too. Barnsley always a shout. That’ll be the one that I wait until the last minute on depending on transfer business.
Agreed. Will wait until nearer the time for league one. So far, man city, Leicester, Wrexham.

Depends if you include relegated players and who stays. Leicester want Ryan Giles and he was right up there for best LB in the league last season but Conor Townsend from WBA for me was the best overall. A lot older than Cirkin though. Walker-Peters still at Southampton but probably going to leave.

Ballard has potential but he was nowhere near one of the best CB’s in the league last season he didn’t play anywhere near enough to show that. He has to do something special this season me to think that.

Clarke and Roberts I wouldn’t swap for anyone else in the league in their positions.

Firpo is gash mate, haway. Barely a footballer that lad.

Giles aye maybe. But I think Cirkin comfortably better.

He’s strong has enough pace, defends space well and gets forward brilliantly.

I genuinely stand by my opinion, the lad is PL standard already, easily, and improves constantly.

I am assuming certain departures when listing these for clarity.

See for me when Ballard was 5-6 games in after his first injury he looked absolutely immense and effortless.

Yeah I’ll agree not enough games but seen enough there to form an opinion. Remember he was POTY season before at Millwall as well in a side with a ridiculous defensive record that season.

Genuinely best in league then I’d say Clarke and that’s it. In top 2/3 then Stewart, Hume, Cirkin. In top 5/6 then Roberts, Ballard, Patterson. Not sure in midfield- Ekwah and Neil are both good, possibly top 10 midfielders.

You reckon there are 4-5 left footed wingers better than Roberts?

I was being position specific when making list, apologies if that was lost.

I really like Cirkin, and I think his ceiling is very high. But I'd definitely have Thomas ahead of him right now.

He’s in the top four or five wingers either side for ability, that doesn’t quite translate into stats so I wouldn’t put him as the very best. That said I can’t think of anyone I’d swap him for in this league.
