“Long term contract” I’d say 4 or 5. Seems consistent with our recruitment this last couple of yearsInteresting that we haven’t disclosed how many years on his contract. Suggests to me it’s not as long as we’d like. Maybe only 3 years.

No.7 shirt should be for a right winger not a central midfielder.
just saying
Great article, but what did he have to eat in Romanos?Jobe Bellingham has completed a move to Sunderland AFC from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee.
After featuring for England’s Under-18s earlier this month, the talented midfielder has arrived on Wearside and signed a long-term contract at the Club.
Jobe enjoyed a breakout season with Birmingham during the 2022-23 campaign, establishing himself as a regular member of the senior squad and making 22 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship.
The 17-year-old made his debut for the Blues aged 16 and has frequently earned international recognition, representing the Three Lions at Under-16, 17 and 18 level.
Jobe, who will wear the no.7 shirt, will join up with his new team-mates on Monday when pre-season training commences at the Academy of Light.
He said: “I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and I can’t wait to get started. I spent many years at Birmingham City and that really helped my development, but now felt like the right time to take the next step. I’m looking forward to working under the Head Coach – I want to learn and develop my game – and I feel like I’m progressing every week, so playing with good players will only help that. The Stadium of Light is the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in and the fans have already made me feel welcome online, so I’m excited to get going and I’m focused on letting my football speak for itself.”
Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman added: “Jobe’s a player who is focused on being the best version of himself and for him to feel that Sunderland can best support that progression is a massive endorsement of what we are doing. He has a great range of technical attributes and he will continue to develop physically despite already showing that he can shoulder the demands of Championship football. Like we do with all young players, we will give him time to settle and adapt to his new surroundings, but he can’t wait to get out in front of our supporters at the Stadium of Light and I’m sure they will enjoy his journey with us.”

Interesting that we haven’t disclosed how many years on his contract. Suggests to me it’s not as long as we’d like. Maybe only 3 years.
We don't have all the power in this one. Despite Jobe being one of our most inexperienced players, his name and reputation gives his team leverage. He's aiming to go to the very top. Either we get to the Premier League and maybe keep him for longer or he looks to move on in a couple of years.
At that age mate I wouldnt push them on shape or anything. Focus everything on having the ball at their feet. Loads and loads of ball mastery. In a game let them play. You see them chasing the ball, that is a good thing, we should want them to want the ball. They will find standing in space alien, unless they are a really good bunch. Rotate their positions, kids arent strikers ot defenders. I a 5 v 5 if you can guide them to play a sort of diamond that might best, but dont stress when they are all over the place. Let them learn by making mistakes. Talk to them after the match, dont tell them what to do during. All sounds daft I know. Best thing for kids to early teenage years is futsal if there is any local. They will improve 5 times quicker playing that than playing standard football, and it will make them much better standard footballers.Any tips coaching an u6 side then mate. Just took my two sons team. Hard work getting them set up.
I think players under 18 are still restricted to a maximum 3 year contractInteresting that we haven’t disclosed how many years on his contract. Suggests to me it’s not as long as we’d like. Maybe only 3 years.
