Bristol City want “£20m+” for Alex Scott. There’s our benchmark.

Not wanting to compare Scott to our players. He’s a very very very good player and could go all the way. Very different to the likes of Neil and Clarke who in my obviously biased opinion are just as high in potential if not in repute.

but for me it crystallises that we shouldn’t even entertain offers for Clarke at the least unless it starts with a 2 and is eight figures.
It'd be nice to see us play hard ball for a change. We let the likes of Wright and Flanagan go so they could get game time, even if it weakened our squad.
We've let players go for pennies in the past (Kaboul, McNair, Mannone) when we could have fought to keep them, or at least squeezed extra money out of the deal

If a team comes in for Clarke, then the conversation starts at £20m and not a penny less. Ditto Ballard and Neil - not saying they are actually worth that, but I'd like to be more Daniel Levy and less Martin Bain when it comes to transfers. We don't need to sell, so let's rinse any clubs with TV money to spend

Watching Brighton city and hope this is just them putting van hecke in the shop window he looks a very good player

Resting players for the Villa game, just like they had to against the mags for the Southampton game. PL ****ed their schedule big time and they’ve ended up with 7 league games in 24 days.

I was surprised to see Harry Winks at Sampdoria mind, only had an England call up a few years ago. Meant to be leaving Spurs in the summer but no idea what level of football that’ll be for and I think it’ll probably be a permanent. Another with injury issues but he would be an incredible coup for a championship team if they could afford him.

Would be an unreal signing for us. Not sure he would be on the list, with Neil developing so fast. But I would live watching him play for us.

I think he plays as the holder more often than not so would take Evans/Ekwah place alongside Neil. Sure he was playing with Alli/Eriksen/Ndombele at one point which would make him the most defensive maybe? Can’t remember if he played much when they got Hojbjerg though.

Wishful thinking!

Is Scott is "worth" 20m then Clarke would be worth a fair bit more than that surely. His stats piss all over Scott.

depends which stats I guess. I haven’t seen enough of Scott to argue otherwise but I know he’s rated incredibly highly by top top clubs. There were even rumours of him going to Liverpool and straight into first team squad

Scott is a CM, he’s never going to have the goals and assists Clark does. He’s a good young player but I think when they played City in the cup Pep praised him and everyone was all over it like a fly on ****.

Everyone interprets data differently and the obvious statistics will normally point to players who score/assist as being standout players which isn’t fair really - Rodri only has 2 goals and 6 assists in the PL this season which doesn’t look great on paper but if you watch him you’ll see he’s the best DM in world football by a mile.

That being said - there’s about 110 players ahead of Scott for average rating in the championship last season which obviously isn’t a stonewall indicator of how well someone’s played but it’s not exactly a few players here or there it’s over a hundred. If he’s worth £20m then there must be some seriously expensive players in the championship now.

Yes but that average rating thing is an absolute joke as well.

Scott been on the radar a long time as well, not just since Pep mentioned him. That’s just what got people’s attention recently.

As long as I have a hole in me arse he won’t be going straight into Liverpools first team squad lol. They have Bajcetic, Jones and Elliot who are all young midfielders and on the fringe of the first team.

I think he’ll end up getting signed by a PL club and loaned out. Being able to gamble on a £20m fee for a player who’s had 2 seasons in the championship for a team that’s finished in the bottom half both seasons is just a sign of how mental money has became in the game.

Maybe I’m wrong and he’ll be as good as Bellingham :emoticon-0102-bigsm

If we are in a position where we don't need to sell our best players I'd only listen to offers of 25 million or more for Clarke, anything under that he stays.
