It'd be nice to see us play hard ball for a change. We let the likes of Wright and Flanagan go so they could get game time, even if it weakened our squad.Bristol City want “£20m+” for Alex Scott. There’s our benchmark.
Not wanting to compare Scott to our players. He’s a very very very good player and could go all the way. Very different to the likes of Neil and Clarke who in my obviously biased opinion are just as high in potential if not in repute.
but for me it crystallises that we shouldn’t even entertain offers for Clarke at the least unless it starts with a 2 and is eight figures.
We've let players go for pennies in the past (Kaboul, McNair, Mannone) when we could have fought to keep them, or at least squeezed extra money out of the deal
If a team comes in for Clarke, then the conversation starts at £20m and not a penny less. Ditto Ballard and Neil - not saying they are actually worth that, but I'd like to be more Daniel Levy and less Martin Bain when it comes to transfers. We don't need to sell, so let's rinse any clubs with TV money to spend
