If I was Stewart I wouldn’t sign a deal now, I’d give it till Christmas and see if I got form back hoping for a better offer.

If I was him, or advising him, the contract offered would have been signed on the way to hospital with his achilles busted, or very soon after.

It's a bad injury and he might not hit the ground running , the goals might not come, he might have a relapse etc etc. I hope he's okay, and he probably will be, but he's rolling the dice a bit IMO. He'll be twenty seven when we kick off again, and the deal offered would probably set him up. The one he is on now won't, and if it goes wrong for him he has a lot of living to pay for.

He could wait thinking he could get a move or better deal.....then not comeback the same player or get a bad injury again & the deal he had on the table could be the best he ever gets offered again.....i think there will be concerns for the club reference a new deal also

I think the club will stand by their offer, looking at how they dealt with Evans and Willis.

Linked with Ethan Galbraith on a free. Would have been a coup a couple of years ago but no idea how he’s done since. Very highly rated and on paper exactly the kind of player we’d be after

Looked v good for NI don’t know whether he’s been brilliant at Salford mind?

Not sure if he’s been injured but looks like he’s not started a game since 7th April was touted loads when we were in league one and United fans on Twitter seem to rate him

hes 22 and not quite made it despite the promise. Some very poor loan choices (Doncaster last season ahead of us for example).

On a free he’s exactly the kind of low risk signing you’d expect us to make. But I guess it depends how we rate him.

Boro also want him and Carrick used to coach him. So that’s a good indication that he’s got something about him.

seen it with Clarke and roberts sometimes players just need a home to thrive, he could be the next one should it come off

I was a huge fan of his a few yrs a go, was a stand out at youth level for united however he has struggled when out on loan at doncaster (was a poor team) and has done ok at salford but def hasnt stood out.

Not sure hes of championship standard, if he reaches the potential i thought he had a couple yrs a go he'd be a cracking signing. It all depends how his loan moves have impacted him, he looked a shadow of the player i saw a couple yrs a go when ive seen him at salford n doncaster

Heavily linked a couple of years back iirc.

Heavily linked a couple of years back iirc.

Was as recent as last season IIRC. He was linked like this time 2 years ago and was the one that triggered that period where we all started talking about having to wait until towards the end of the window to get the best premier league loans. He ended up going Doncaster instead

Just seen we aren't taking up the option to sign Michut. Thought he'd be nailed on to sign. Very good player.

Aye. Good player . But looks like we are going with Ekwah, Neill, plus when fit Evans and Embleton. Then there are the young lads, who will get a go, and Bellingham if we can sign him.

I'd have kept him, but maybe he doesn't want to stay. In fairness, though appearances are often deceptive, he never cracked many smiles!

But he looks to me like he could handle the PL, so if he's had any sniffs from there, that's where he'll be going.

If we are looking at someone like Galbraith I could see us moving for someone like Billy gilmour on loan, still massive potential but seems to have lost his way abit, not sure where he’d fit in with our current midfielders/Bellingham should he come in

cracking shout that

I would imagine his wages might make that tricky for championship clubs tho
