I knew our overachievement last season would corrupt expectations but some of the stuff I’m seeing from our fans around the internet is ridiculous. We’ve got it so ****ing lucky and I still maintain that most football league clubs and even some premier league clubs fans would swap for our strategy, ownership and playing style.

Would that be Brighton who owe their owner Tony bloom over £400 million? Who freely admit they would be knackered and no where near where they are now I'd he hadn't put up serious money?

    That Brighton?

We are only 2/3 players away from challenging for a top two spot. The nucleaus is there. Judge transfers at the end of the window and Mowbray after 18/20 games. Maybe we will hear some positive news by the end of the week..i dont believe we will have a new striker by Saturday though. Lots to be positive about.

I DO NOT want to be financed by a billionaire.this club should spend what it generates, end of.

Have we not seen it enough? Overspending and relying on a financier means you have a single point of failure. Remove them, your club may go under. Having a club is far more important than success, sorry like.

Hopefully this model works and we get both. But if you look at Chelsea and think it looks good, then you have my sympathy like

Exactly my point from earlier, we need to capitalise on what we have and build on the media coverage we are and have been given, new revenue streams new sponsorships, investment in the Stadia (coincidentally not covered under FFP) and surrounding areas. however I also think that the finances of other clubs should come under more scrutiny and for teams like Coventry who do not have their own stadium and struggled to fulfill fixtures at the start of last year. W hat will the authorities do if Mike Ashley decides to sell the ground and they are again left homeless and have used the money they have created to buy players and not invest in their clubs infrastructure. Whilst people always talk about transfers and how money should be spent football finance is far more complicated than most of us realise
In short FFP is basically concentrated on the senior playing squad and not the overall expenditure of the club build the brand with good and smart investments and expand at the right time. As people have been saying we are looking into expanding capacity which leads me to believe that there will be some investment into the playing side to coincide with these positive moves but financially we must get our ducks in a row first then make smart decisions at the right time. a little bit more patience is probably going to be required but I believe that we are still moving in the right direction and fully expect some transfer business to be done before the window closes HWTL.

i can guarantee the only people who think safc is struggling are them that come out with such bilge.

everyone else sees a club that has finally escaped from the 3rd division, have spent wisely, exceeded expectations and have a tight ongoing plan, also playing some damn good football...i dare say quite a chunk of them would love to be in the same position.

i am living each day as a bonus so i would be happy to see us promoted and winning cups but i doubt i will...but i know one thing, do it right and future lads will have plenty to enjoy and that makes me happy.

I’d want to add the word ‘quality’ to your comment. My own view would that we need the 9 two weeks ago like as you know but hopefully worth waiting for.

In an ideal world we'd get all our targets in before pre season . Unfortunately it's not that easy mate.

Agree has to be 3 quality players to come in rather than 3 project players. Need 3 players that can hit the ground running - hard to guarantee that i know but if its players with senior experience itll help

I’d give some of these posts two likes if I could.

We knew that some tough times would come and wondered how people would deal with it. The club is moving in an overwhelmingly positive direction though certain sections of our support can’t see it or love moaning and don’t want to see it!

That last bit is aimed at twitter / social media by the way. There are a healthy mix of sceptics, optimists and everywhere in between on here.

I'd love that to be true, but 3 quality players could be in excess of £10 million and after what we have already spent this summer it's a big ask

I'd say they will have to be. Mind you it's how we should use the loan market, for 1 or 2 'special' players.

I'm glad we aren't going down the 4 or 5 loan players a season route others have and continue to do

Yep I agree, look at last season with us getting Amad, Burnley with Maatsen and Tella, Sheff Utd with McAtee and Doyle, Boro with Archer. The loan system is brilliant if used correctly and not just to fill out a squad

It may be possible to bring in loan players who carry an option to buy , the loan fee may be higher but if they do well we can make up our minds if we want to buy the player or not . Similar not taking players who can be recalled mid season like Ellis Simms which had a massive impact on our season , Everton were the big winners in that regard as he made good progress culminating in a reported £8 million transfer to Coventry which would not have happened prior to his spell at Sunderland . The loan system can work but has to be used wisely !

While I don't want the club to overspend. Sometimes a business has to speculate to accumulate, this is our current position, spend a few Million Pounds on a good quality forward and the whole Club will be worth more money for KLD, as we could well end up in the Premier League with what that entails. We're not that far off from recovering from the Short era if we can achieve promotion.
