Does a Stewart sale pay for Cannon or Frijan?

Can we even sell Stewart while he wouldn’t pass a medical?

I’m at the stage now where he may as well be gone cos it’s ****ing with our preparation, seen enough of Hemir to think he will bag a few straight out the gate anyway.

We bought him while injured but it is different this time due to the injury being one that could be career changing!

And assuming Nixon is right (cough). And for the sake of this post I will assume he is purely because it’s something to discuss, then I’d much rather he went to Southampton than Stoke or Boro. Those last 2 would feel like a sidewards step. The Southampton one at least feels like he’s going to a club with parachute payments who can offer more money legitimately and have in theory the best chance of promotion.

(before everyone gets upset I’m not saying Southampton are a bigger club than us)

I think this is where KLD comes into play. While there is balancing books and sticking to plans, there is also cash flow. Can we sanction the replacement for Stewart before the sale, if that’s the plan, with KLD covering the risk he’s not fit enough to sell before window closes?

We need a second one in before we let Stewart go. We're putting ourselves in a risky position otherwise both in terms of squad depth and negotiating power.

For sure, but we also need to protect the club. Crazy that without him being replaced we have learned to live without.

Semedo getting 9 is a sign, we need at least one more for sure.

I think we in the hunt for this creation kid for sure, not convinced we after Cannon.

Leicester getting Caicedi on loan from Chelsea is a big move from them.

I'm not convinced we sell Stewart, I think the money that will be offered would be so low it would hardly be worth accepting. It will be £1-2 million imo, as it can only really be this window (he can go to Rangers on a free in January imo or just wait until mext summer when he can go anywhere) and he is unlikely to convince anyone he is completely over his injury in that time.

That kind of money is a loan fee for a player who can get goals like Stewart, so imo the club should keep him anyway and let him see out his contract of that's what he is going to do!

I wonder if clubs after Stewart would take all the medical data into consideration if he's not fit enough to pass a full medical? Then structure the deal say small fee up front increasing with games played?

Let's be honest, Stewart wants more money, we won't pay it or break the wage structure (quite right as well) so move him on and get the 2nd striker before the season starts

Cannon seems like an obvious target for us to me. We have a good working relationship with Everton and Cannon had a similar record to Simms in the Championship last season. He looks like a better around footballer to me as well. Only a loan mind, I can't believe that we would be ready to offer a big fee for him.

@Scout73 love reading your posts mate, I have a massive interest in how it all works and seeing how the most random players turns into a massive success, can I ask out of curiosity out of all the players that you have seen recently who would you like to see in the red and white of Sunderland?
Watched the boy avarena (hope ive spelt it right) that weve been linked with and i really like him. Could play upfront, as a no10 or wide left. Technically really good, beats opponents with ease but also works really hard. My club have been offered him so we might be looking to sign him

My dream signing from all the players ive watched the last 6 months or so would be brunner of dortmund - the boy has huge potential but dortmund wont sell him so not realistic at all

Another one i would like as a back up to clarke would be sonko, he plays in Sweden currently but only 18 and is a very good winger
