Another one away from Chelsea

You must log in or register to see media

He's a proper footballer, Dave.

Should really go down as one of Chelsea's best signings. He cost £7m and he's made 350 league appearances for them, 508 in total. He's captained the team for 4 years and during his time at the club, he's won 9 trophies including the league and Champions League.

On his way back to Spain with Atleti is a good move for him.

Agree mate. One of the very best foreign imports.

Burnley will only be bidding with encouragement from the agent. Which doesn’t fill me with confidence regarding Clarke and the new contract rumour

We can still keep him another year with the knowledge that we can still get maximum price. Him Ballard and Stewart I’d be keeping so we have a crack at promotion unless we get a daft fee and for that we wait until close to the end of the window.

SAFC hold a strong position with Clarke. Spurs/Levy hold a significant sell on clause in any deal. SAFC will not sell for anything less than £18+. Burnley trying to low ball and flex muscles. Watch this space over the transfer window.

Clarke / Ballard / Stewart are players we could possibly lose this window. We must have a plan to replace with quality when needed.

If we won’t sell for anything less than £18m, then they’re really taking the piss if £9m is their 3rd (!) bid.

Personally I’d prefer the thread to be about our transfers, contracts etc plus anything that might influence our position. Should be another thread about the PL, foreign stuff etc. Not interested in that other world of Monopoly money and mega egos.
That is fine by me in relation to Premier League, foreign etc, perhaps you would like to start one.

EDIT That sounded a bit arsey, certainly wasn't my intention <ok>

Edit again
@Smug in Boots has beaten both of us to it lol

Clarke
9 mill must be getting close
Surely we can’t let him go go less than 20 mil

That's an interpretation but it's not fact. His agent has been out and publicly said that he's happy here and wants to stay.

Conpletely agree but why is his agent talking to the media about it at all? He literally said he’s happy to stay but every player has a price. The fact Burnley keep bidding is disappointing is all. Especially considering we were hoping he was about to be announced with a new contract.

His agent has done nothing wrong mate, I'm not sure why you're looking for that angle. If Clarke leaves, it will be because we got offered a price that we were prepared to accept.

Disagree with this. There was no need for Harte to do that interview, even him saying Clarke is happy here then followed with comments about the possibility of him leaving

not saying he done anything wrong at all.

All I’m saying is Burnley keep bidding. And usually that means they think there’s a deal to be had. No team is going to waste their time making this many crazy lowball offers unless somebody somewhere in the chain is telling them they’re close.

I get the feeling Clarke will go and it will be for less than most of us would think is enough. Probably around £14m

That’s what worries me
Let him go but not for 10 mill

If £14m is what we'd accept then it's more likely that the club are the ones encouraging Burnley than the agent.
