Shouldn't we look on it slightly differently though.....he's committed to us now....if we progress as we all hope,he'll have opportunity with us to progress his career alongside? Why do we need to assume,at this stage, he isn't going yet,but will at some point later?
Because all scholarship contracts are on the same terms

Once he can sign a pro deal and other clubs can offer him 10 x as much money, it’s likely that “best place to progress his career” will become of secondary importance

Correct

Means very little other than he isn’t going right now (which if you’re an optimist I suppose may suggest to you that there’s a chance he won’t go even in 2 years time because he clearly he likes it here etc)

I am not an optimist
1 years time mate. Even a two year scholarship won’t stop him signing a pro contract somewhere (including here) this time next year.

Not sure I’d say ‘likely’, depends on the individual I guess.

Out of interest, did Jude Bellingham sign a pro contract at Brum and get sold straight after (without playing more games) just to secure Birmingham a fee?

I think he played after signing the contract, it seems he signed the contract out of loyalty to Birmingham to makes sure they got a fee. We were trying to get him then by the looks of it but he signed for Birmingham so he would have to be sold.

There are certainly all the right signs with the Bellingham family.

Yes both Bellingham's did that. Think I read an article which had his dad quoted as saying it was the right thing to do. Which is brilliant.

We're took Bellingham at 17, someone might take rigg. Just the game sadly. Wish it was different but not gunna change

The Jobe one is a weird one though. As B'ham could have held out for loads more as he had signed a pro deal there.

They obviously either don't rate him that highly or are so desperate for cash they've sold him relatively low. Let's hope its the latter. We've been on the wrong side of that so often.

He was out of contract next summer. He clearly wasn't signing another one and he had a release clause in the contract.

I meant Jude, not Jobe. Jobe signed his last year and obviously played for them since.

Fantastic attitude to have. I get the impression these lads will be top pro's and people on and off the pitch throughout their careers. The signs are there early that they do the right thing!

Them supporting each other as a family while signing for new clubs is great to see.

He will enjoy his time here imo, as the fans will take to him like all the young lads who are out there giving their all trying to improve and playing creative exciting football!

This club man, what a transformation. Our biggest downfall for years was the attitude of the players we signed, it's great to see that being a persistent thing we are getting right!
