West Brom in talks to sign Dwight Gayle. Okay he's 32 but knows how to put the ball in the net.

Are we in talks to sign anyone?

Would be nice to know.....

I think that if we are in talks with anyone, it's prudent to keep it as quiet as possible.
But don't worry BfB, you've got us to talk with.

I saw Gayle was surplus to requirements at Newcastle. Nearly mentioned him as an option but his wages will be far too high.

You say the sweetest things Clingo. :emoticon-0109-kiss:

Would be nice to have a positive footballing post to chew over.
I have to say I'm feeling very positive about the season ahead. Sorry to be like a broken record, but cementing a new culture in the style that we play and bringing ourselves into 21st century, is what I'm looking for. I'd love to see our existing squad and especially the youngsters, develop and have an impact rather than a big signing that doesn't fit in. I'm also wondering if we actually need an out and out striker. In any case, it's unlikely that we could afford someone to fit in to the new methods. Heaven forbid we go for another 7 foot target man.

Looking at the way tonight's game is going I would say we have a real need for someone who can at least threaten the opponent's goal fairly regularly. It appears the County keeper has got out his deck chair, a good book and a cigar.

I agree we don't want a monster and the fact we didn't go after the Rotherham guy says that. If we are going to play a passing game then someone with pace and goal awareness is essential. Harris isn't that and the Championship may be a league too high for Watters.

Not a bad run out and the clean sheet will keep Ninian happy.

With hindsight we were missing our 4 likely starting midfielders in Rhino, Ralls, Sawyers and Adams plus Colwill Senior so there should be more to come.

The youngsters who played had a good run out above Under 23 level.

Still need a goal scorer.

Good news Ojo is back. Hopefully we’ll see more consistent performances from him now that we are playing a better style of passing football.

Agree with this. The guy has no real pace about him as an out and out winger, but he's tricky and can play a good final ball.

With the change in style now being introduced by Morison, he could be a far better fit in the side than he was in our previous kick and rush format.

I thought he was overall a good asset to the team when he was here before, linked well with Wilson... maybe him and Sawyers will work well together?

The next signings I want to read about are strikers!!

Me too!!!

I hope getting Collins off the wage bill will free up the cash for us to sign someone who knows where the opposition goal is.

Others to leave? Phillips and Whyte, especially the latter with Ojo coming in, are the obvious ones.
