Just to clarify, my posts are intended to be read from left to right. Realising that some folks apparently read them backwards goes a long way to explaing why they appear to mystify my fellow forum members!

On the subject of the virtue or otherwise of a manager having multiple plans, A, B, C, ..... Zzzzzz, I would like to know how many such plans Guardiola had at Barca. As far as I can see, only one rather successful one. It is true that the plan had weaknesses exploited at the highest level by Chelsea and Bayern, but I am yet to hear ANYONE grumbling that Pep Guardiola was a poor manager because he had no Plan B! <ok>
 
On a slightly different topic - I see the Jarrold is nearly 'sold out' for the friendly on Sat and I'm really looking forward to it and hoping for a good game.

On another slightly different topic - season tickets should be coming through your letterboxes this week.

You are right of course, it is an over simplification to suggest that there will be fixed plans a, b & c. Any change in approach will consider a number of faccets, opposition set up, flow of the game, individual performances and threats as well as your own teams performance and cohesion on any given Saturday. So having more then one plan may be the initial set up of the team to counter the opposition or indeed attack them at their weaknesses. It could be a minor tactical tweak mid game, a substitution or formation change during a match.
CH for what ever reason (we may assume due to a perceived lack of faith in a number of the squad) seemed reticent/incapable of making those changes. Now I as a doubter I hope he is less reticent/ capable of making these decisions now he has a more capable squad with more of his own players. Though as many others on here have intimated I also still hold concern about the supply line to our strikers. Hope Fer Will be the answer to better ball retention and more chances created, we will soon find out. Of course there could still be more signings to aid this facet too.
Anyway, back on topic, since we signed Hooper I think Quag may be a high profile/expect to play player too many. I would like to see another CB or midfielder who could help create, or help others have the platform to do so. (for the record I think Huddleston would of made a great addition, but only if the medical team felt they could keep him fit)

I have said a couple of times before but would love us to sign Shaun Maloney from Wigan. We done them a deal with Holt so think we might be in good standing with them. Not sure how much he would be worth, guessing we could get him for 4-5mil and think he would be an improvement on Wes.

Thoughts anyone?

I'd definitely take him yes, but I can't see Wigan selling him. They seem to be keen to hang on to their key players for the European campaign and to get straight back to the Prem.

I agree, they are looking to go straight back up so they won't be selling a key player like Maloney unless we offered ridiculous money, going back to players we are linked with does anyone know if we have been linked with alternatives to Quags?, there's no guarantee that we will sign him, is there a backup plan?

Pretty much agree with that. I wonder how they'll feel by the time we get to the January transfer window?? That will depend on whether and they're still in Europe and challenging for at least a top 6 in the league!!!
 
I think with Wigan, they have a very tight nit squad and they will be happy to go for a season in the Championship because they are likely to be back in the Prem in a year.

Obviously this could all change in the next 3 and a half weeks if people start snapping up the Maloneys, McCarthys and McArthurs.

I'd definitely love to see Maloney at Norwich. A great player.
