BBC seem to reckon Hooper's off to QPR. Don't even mention our interest this summer. Granted, they often leave things late, but the Beeb rarely get transfers wrong...
At the end of the day we have lots of time to sign someone else, and there are a good few decent players out there. If all Hooper cares about is money then let him bog off to QPR, we need players who are there for the club & fans and not just for mulla!
I said the same about Toinaven - if you're not committed to becoming a Canary then we don't want you !
I understand that Supers but just supposin (one of Quo's better tracks) that our bid matched the QPR bid in terms of hard cash and Celtic were prepared to accept either offer, however, Rangers were offering higher wages, would he come here for Premier League football or go to Loftus Road for more wedge ?
That still claims they are close to agreeing terms, whereas Celtic have said they will consider the latest QPR bid later today. It's probably another case of the 'Arry effect, from which the BBC is far from immune (look how they had him on MOTD almost before he'd got his severance fee from Spurs into the bank).
Well we clearly can compete with QPR in terms of transfer fees, so why haven't we agreed a fee if he is, as you say, our no. 1 striker target this summer? Not criticising the club, but what you say doesn't quite make sense to me! Pay the extra 500K, 1m and get him in!
This is where a lot of people are getting messed up. Many think he's choosing qpr over us purely for money when in fact at this precise time he can't choose at all as we haven't agreed a fee. Lennon has said he reckon the deal will be done within a couple of weeks with a couple of teams in for him! Sounds as if there's more twists and turns in this yet. But would rather get it done and over with cos it's worse than Rhodes rubbish!
Well he is an entertaining character! I think he's an over-rated manager, but as a person and pundit he's much better than Shearer and Lawrenson and more entertaining than Hansen.
well, i don't know do i! i imagine we'd be offering terms around £30k per week. qpr could easily offer more than that - you know what they are like! i'd like to think that he'd come here, after all, he's been vocal about trying to get in the england squad. there's no guarantees, he might not achieve that playing for norwich but he's even less likely in the championship!! if we don't match qpr's bid then we'll never know - my guess is we will do just that but even the bookies have closed the betting on him going to qpr.
Certainly agree he is more entertaining -- I haven't stopped laughing at his early season comment that Arsenal would not beat Spurs to a CL place! I still haven't heard him congratulate Wenger on pulling off what 'Arry said would be "his greatest achievement yet". Still, back to the thread, I've had enough flak already for going off at tangents.
i know they had (reportedly) a bid rejected, but surely Hull would be aware of all the media on these recent bids, and match QPR's bid? they need a striker definitely more legs on this and i wouldn't be surprised is others (apart from 'ull) come in for him
i can't answer that hucks as i'm not involved in negotiations! any well run club will go into a potential transfer with a limit on what they are prepared to pay for that player because there will be other negotiations in place with other players elsewhere. most will pull out if that fee goes higher than that amount, others will go with the flow and potentially miss out on a different target in order to get this particular one. my guess is that all parties now know the player wants to come to norwich. qpr, in order to pinch him have bid higher, meaning we cannot discuss terms unless we match their bid. celtic, knowing this, are playing us both against each other. norwich have decided to stop playing this game as the fee is starting to creep over what they'd planned to pay, hence a take it or leave proposal. it can't be a coincidence that after reading about the supposed ultimatum yesterday there was movement from qpr who raised the bar immediately! i expect, as lennon claims, that celtic are still negotiating with norwich to try and get the fee up a bit more to a level they are more satisfied with. we may or may not be prepared to be ****ed about a bit longer. like i say, just a guess based on what i know
hull know that he wants to come here and can't compete with us on wages. the reason qpr are sticking around is cos they can outbid us on fee and wages
true on the wages part. i was also thinking of other clubs that are short of strikers - Fulham spring to mind as an example. it's an outside possibility
Celtic fans are always going off on one on twitter. Seems they feel insulted by some club or another once a week. Last week we heard that Wanyama was **** with no ambition going to a small club. This week it's Hooper. Must be tiring for them.
celtic fans are deluded. they don't seem to have noticed that football has changed. its all about money and the supposed glitz of the big leagues, not how big your average gate is or playing a handful of european games each year or even winning a european cup nearly 50 years ago. players want to play in the premier league - it's irrelevant how good the premier league is - it's about image and money - and they can't handle the fact they are now a feeder club for whoever plays in the premier league, big or small club. in a way it's tragic that it's come to that but tough - that's where we are and celtic would love to be in it too. it must hurt them terribly that they aren't allowed.
God forbid that Supers, at least if the Jocks vote for independence that will finally put that baby to bed
