It's still open to us to say "Final offer £5M, take it or leave it". Depends what other fires we have in the pan, or pans in the iron, or fires in the iron, or irons in the pan
Yeah, I'm assuming Hughton has plenty of irons in his locker, and several fires in and around the pan.
Just seen this report from Scottish newspapers at 10.58 this morning: "QPR boss Harry Redknapp has submitted a £4.5 million bid for the wantaway striker, just hours after Norwich City threatened to pull out of a deal taking the Englishman to Carrow Road. The 25-year-old is said to be keen on joining the English Premier League side, but could be tempted by the Championship club’s offer that would see him return home to London. Norwich and QPR offered £4 million for the forward last week - with Redknapp matching the Canaries’ offer - and the Norfolk club set a 5pm deadline on Monday for Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell to accept their offer. However, Redknapp’s 11th-hour bid could force Norwich to extend their deadline - and with the QPR bid offering a higher transfer fee plus add-ons if the London club secure a return to the English top flight, Lawwell could be tempted to hold off accepting any bid from Carrow Road, according to the Daily Record."
finding a striker who we could fall back on is tough - i just racked my brains for five minutes and there's a few options who had decent seasons around europe, off the top of my head - matej vydra, jordan rhodes , jeremain lens, jelle vossen, alfredo finnbogasson, luc castaignos, nils petersen? i'm sure there are others!! here's an idea for the missing attacking midfield role - lucas piazon on loan maybe? played a bit at malaga last season and did well. another loan option is nick powell who i think we have been linked with.
SSN are certainly convinced there's something happening there. Half their transfer stories seem to be Hooper / QPR related at the mo.
interesting shout! good player, i like him. good age too. had a poor season last year but he's all-action. i imagine he'd be £7m+ though, despite his poor season.
i am trying to find out some information about the hooper situation at the moment, although i hold little hope of being told anything i'm afraid.
I like the sound of this. It might sound silly but am I the only person who would like to see Hooper come in over anyone else because he is English? Obviously we are going to be signing more foreign players over the next few years so I would just like to think that on the rare occasion we get the chance that we should sign English/British players. If we have a quota to fill this also becomes important although I know we are miles away from that being a problem yet. The thought of Hooper coming in, having a good season and playing for England at the world cup as a Norwich player is something I would also love to happen.
Doesn't really warrant a new thread, and not sure whether it is relevant here but I see Korey Smith could be made Oldham captain this year. He captained them last night and Lee Johnson said he is certainly in the running to be appointed captain, personally never really seen him as captain material. It's a good move for Korey Smith especially if he does become captain.
a quick, one word response to the question - can you update on hoops?: "nothing" make of that what you will
yeah, not a great help really! i didn't think they'd know anything anyway - it won't be in their hands if its at the stage we believe it to be at
Please stop texting me about the transfers, all will be revealed in good time; just off to Cameroon to check on that 15 year old striker
My take: end game in progress as we speak, no more messing around. If our interest died last night there would probably be some indication.
Deadline Day ‏@DeadlineDay 3m David Fox could return to Blackpool this week, Huddersfield and Burnley are also interested in the Norwich midfielder.
