Surely if you're going to play with wingers you need to sign more than one? I thought it was strange last season that even if Downing did well, had he got injured you had no like for like replacement. Personally, the only way I can see Downing making it at a big club is by being moved into the middle. Pace is more of a necessity than a bonus for a winger in the PL these days.

3rd choice striker is a bit of a hard thing to shop for, isn't it? There aren't many strikers who don't struggle to make an impact when they're not played regularly. I've seen you were linked with Sturridge and he'd be a fantastic signing for you guys but I guess it'd mean a lot more bench time for Carroll as I can't see him signing unless he's an automatic starter.

Both our clubs could be doing a few deals late on in the window as I don't think either has the cash to be throwing around and we both need players to move on first.
 
Likelihood is we'll sign someone who can play in the middle and on the wing. That'll allow our front three (assuming we play that) some fluidity also. It explains the apparent interest in players like Tello and Sturridge.
 
Sky would love it if we signed this Gebre Selassie RB from the Czechs! <laugh>

I think he was played out of position for most of the gameso didn't really make much of an impact. Saw him play a few decent cross field passes and 1 or 2 shots but nothing brilliant. 6 out of 10, but woud be interesting to see him in the next couple of games play further up the pitch.

Agree. out of the Czechs I like Pilar, Jiracek, and Selassie. Trying to look at the non-names of who I think could do a job in a position we need. Selassie is more of a RB but he has been brilliant I think.

Always wary of buying players on the back of World Cup or Euros. Diouf, Diao, Baros are ones that come to the top of my head which we got after decent tournament and turned out very average. Plus anyone that plays remotely decent suddenyl gets another 2 or 3 mil added to their price tag!

On another note saw on the bbc rumour pages about Aqualani going to Milan and us making a £17mil loss on him. Considering we only paid £18mil surely we wouldn't let him go for £1mil would we?! Then again just read where the rumour has come from (S**) so no doubt likely to be utter crap but still, if we do sell him I hope it's for nothing less then £10mil.
 
I know there in lurks the danger but we also bought "proven" prem league players who have struggled as well. More or less looking at how they play or do they offer what we need instead of just " wow, he is lighting it up!" type of thinking. Pilar reminds me of Marin in every way and that is a player I would have loved to have got at Liverpool, especially for 7 mil! how Chelsea pulled that off I don't know.

Pilar has just signed for Wolfsburg, Jiracek also joined Wolfsburg in Jan. So those two are a non-starter.

The rumours that have caught the eye so far, we've again been linked with Sturridge whos unhappy being 2nd choice to ****y Torres. Also saw that Man City have put a price on Adam Johnson with Sunderland interested, at 15mil would be worth a bid from us.
 
Would be good those two, plus help out with the English quota ( not that that is a real issue now with us) but provide an immediate burst of attacking threat, pace, trickery, creativity, etc.

He has got pace. Its just pace in a straight line. He doesn't have the quick feet or technique to dribble at pace (like Bale) or change direction quickly (more Aaron Lennon)

If Sturrage came, and not just for the money, I'd take him, but I feel that he is more likely to go back to Citeh, and bench warm for them for lots of money, We'll wait and see if he actually makes a move based on wanting to play football, and be a part of something new.

I think Citeh have a flaming cheek asking for double what they paid for Johnston, when he has been a bench warmer for them. I've said elsewhere, let him throw in a transfer request, and get his price down into single figures. Otherwise he can do an "Owen" and piss off to the freezing North East to achieve **** all but have lots of money.
 
Not sure I'd want Sturridge, apparantly his attitude stinks and he's always chasing money. Also seems a bit headless at times, not the head up composed player I think Rodgers would be after. Would be surprised and slightly disappointed if we got him.

Johnson has bags of ability, but could we find better for cheaper? 15mill is alot for someone who doesn't get game time...not sure I'd like to be held for ransom again this summer. If he wants to leave, let him hand in a request. For 10mill, I'd jump at the chance. His wages would be quite high too I'd guess.

If it comes to money ... you will win out.

If it comes to playing styles, will he choose 'Swanselona' or 'Liverlona' ..... We shall see.

I don't know...as a fan I was glad we didn't go for Laudrup, like the rumours were suggesting. We'll see I suppose.

I think he'd move to Liverpool for more than money - the chance at a 'big club'. prestige, famous jersey and all that, but also better team-mates. He's never played with the likes of Gerrard, Agger, Lucas or Suarez before (unfortunately they could be all I can boast about).

Also, do you think we'll implement any form of tika-taka straight away? Even in a reduced mode?

He only cost me 5.5 mill when I bought him <whistle> now that WAS a steal...seriously though I will be "over the moon" if R Brendan pulls this off as his first bit of business <ok>
 
Just been on Youtube to check this Roberto Soldado does anyone know what price is on him????If Rodgers is looking to bring him in and the price is right.He would be a great addition.Were the goals on the clip from 1 season??
