you forget though that in Rodger's system players can roam, Gerrard wouldn't have to stick religiously to the wing IMO. Didn't he also play on the wing the year before his partnership upfront with Torres? Seem to remember him doing well then. One thing's for sure, Gerrard is wasted if not in attacking positions

If we sign Sahin I can see the midfield trio of Sahin, Allen, Lucas with Gerrard in a free role and roaming about, to the right, middle to link with Sahin, etc.

Exactly, so Gerrard would be ideal upfront meaning he could be swapped in and out with the likes of Tello, Ramirez, Borini (if we get the first 2) Could have an attack looking like this with some real depth

--------------------------------Lucas/(Spearing)------------------

------------------Sahin/(Shelvey)---------Allen/(Henderson)------------

-------Ramirez/(Tello)----------Suarez/(Carroll)--------Gerrard/(Borini)

THIS <OK>

totally agree, if we had a team with DEPTH like that and POTENTIAL like that AND WORKRATE like rodgers talks about... well i have to say its be very interesting to see where it'd end up. 4 mil for tello is a steal but again is he any better than sterling and why can't sterling be the option?

08.42 BST: In Spain, AS reports that Liverpool director Ian Ayre is poised to clinch loan deals for Madrid’s Sahin and Barcelona’s Tello. Tello’s future has been the subject of speculation this summer because he remains on a low Barca B contract. Liverpool could offer €4 million for him, AS says – but Mundo Deportivo begs to differ, saying the club would not let him go either on loan or permanently, and Sport says he will sign a new Barca deal this week.

Absolute bargain at that price, but I have a feeling the most boring and probable outcome will be that he extends his contract with Barca and continues to warm their bench

Come on Ayre, lay it on thick for them! Get them over here!

Seriously would love to see Lucas, Allen, Sahin with Gerrard, Borini, Suarez in front of them, would be very tasty.

If true, Alonso your hero status just continues to jump up. <ok>

Guillem Balague "It seems Xabi Alonso has convinced Sahin to move to #LFC & now it will be a matter of negotiating that loan deal" "

Sorry mate but that stat is complete bollocks!

Since joining Liverpool he's played 171 times for us in 6.5 seasons which by my calculations works out @ 25.6 games per season

I read the fourteen stat somewhere pal, could be league games? Fair do's if it is wrong but my poiint still stands when we play nearer fifty games a season!

Selling Agger only sends out the wrong message to the players if we don't sign a quality replacement or lose games. If we sold him and still won, do you think players would be bothered...? Same goes if we signed a younger fitter player.

I agree that Agger does seem a little "fragile" and picks up injuries which other players don't seem to get.

If he was as reliable as Carra we wouldn't be having this conversation <ok>

Absolutely, and his value would be £50m+ too <ok>

17.31 BST Bologna winger Gaston Ramirez has rejected a move to Spurs, according to his agent. Oscar Betancourt told Calcio Mercato: “The only solid offer is the one from Tottenham, who offered €16 million, but the deal didn’t go through because Spurs offered too low a wage to the player and if the wage difference is minimal he would stay at Bologna.

“Tottenham could raise their offer if they sell Modric and in that case the deal could be done, otherwise Ramirez will stay another year at Bologna. We also talked with Liverpool but nothing more."

Also, Dev, that is exactly what his value was when I sold him in FIFA <yikes> PSG too which is actually pretty realistic. <laugh>

Its funny you mention FIFA. I've recently started a new career mode with our new players (Allen, Borini), kept all the players we sold but only so I can sell them and pocket the cash to use elsewhere. Maxi, Aurelio and Kuyt have left so far (£1.3m for Aurelio. £5.5m for Kuyt. £9.5m for Maxi). Aquilani, Bellamy, Cole all heading for the exit, none will be given a chance despite the temptation.

Signed Dempsey for £12.5m and Ramirez for £18.5m (They wanted £21m but I stuck to my guns). Also signed Aly Cissokho for £7m as left-back cover.

Currently rotating Henderson, Shelvey and Allen for the remaining one spot in midfield, Dempsey only used for cover and has been great so far (Really well balanced player).

Amazingly Downing is improving, Suarez is firing, Carroll is also contributing in games (Although Downing and Carroll are only really being used for Cup games).

Braver man than me, I usually gut most of the team or players I really don't fancy. <laugh>

Got spurs at home next, gonna be murder dem.
