We are going through a difficult period and we need experienced players to help us get back to the top. I'm all for using youngsters but only in the right environment.

This is BR's first real competitive match and it's important we get off to a good start to help build momentum. I know the experienced lads failed us last season but I still feel more 'secure' knowing they are on the pitch rather than youngsters.

It's better to use the youngsters when confidence is high amongst the whole squad, we're winning and playing good football.

Looks like Cazorla is going to Arsenal. Will be nice to see him in the PL, but gutted it isn't for us (he was briefly linked last year, on the recommendation of Pepe.)

I hope we go for Isco, as it looks like Malaga are having a firesale. Great prospect at 20, and we could probably get him for < £10m. They got him for 6m euros last year.

Indeed or Rondon ( Fwd) or I know he is older but Joaquin, I have always liked him but feel he was one who didn't quite live up to the potential. Monreal is another if we need a RB.

speaking of potential....

Portugal midfielder Manuel Fernandes is a £7million target for Liverpool.

Fernandes, 26, was once regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and was courted by Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.

The ex-Benfica star, now with Turkish side Besiktas, is familiar with the Premier League after two loan spells at Everton in 2007 and 2008 and a stint at Portsmouth in 2006.

Liverpool are one of a clutch of clubs who have been alerted that Portugal international Fernandes could be on the move this summer.

Fernandes would be keen on a return to England and new Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is now weighing up a potential deal.

i would gladly take his as well....

Fiorentina are ready to sell wing-back Juan Manuel Vargas.

Viola officials have confirmed the interest of Liverpool in the left-sided wing-back.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Vargas is now training on his own after Fiorentina decided to invite offers for his sale.

also, like someone said earlier, glad to see someone of the ilk of Cazorla in the prem, but can't help but think he should have been with us. :(

Yes. But more like £15-25M, could be anything but it won't be cheap.

I know he didn't quite fit with WBA, but at Villareal he was really good...

15.58 BST: Reports in Spain suggest that Serie A side Fiorentina have agreed a €7 million fee for Villarreal's Borja Valero, with a move believed likely to go through soon.

Arsenal could be very strong even if Van Persie leaves.
-----------Fabianski----------
-Sagna--?????-Vermarlen-???-
------Wilshere---Arteta-------
-Walcott-------------Cazorla-
---------------Podolski-------
----------Giroud--------------

I still question there back 4 though. As well as squad depth.

I've said before, I think Arsenal are a strong team. Plenty, including myself started to write them off last season. Top 4 is going to be ****ing hard to get over the next few seasons.

Yeh they'd be instantly strengthened. They'll get injuries though, and they still haven't sorted their defence out.

We said the same about United last year and they just, merely seconds away from winning the title.

What burns me is that I ****ing rate Sahin, Cazorla, and Podolski so high and they are playing for a team because they have CL. <grr>

I know it sounds bitter but those are the quality I wish we could still get.

Sickening isn't it. It feels like the top 4 are pulling away. I guess we will be battling with Spurs and Newcastle for 5th place.

<diva>

To be fair United might need to watch it a bit as well, my pre-season pick for them of 3rd might change up if they aren't plugging some of the holes up. Then again, they always ****ing find a way.

I just want us to have a respectable year in the league again.

lets see them actually buy those players though.... seems to me a lot depends on rvp moving

a week boefr ethe seaosn starts sit eht ime for this, not quite yet.

Apparently RVP to Juve is pretty much agreed and wrapped up. I think they knew he was off for a while hence Podolski and Giroud coming in. I think the Cazorla thing is Malaga somehow going into some serious debt? If it happens though, I think we talked about this mito, there are some good players we can get from there, Isco, Rondon, Monreal, Toulalan

a juve paid agent said the rvp thing was tied up. i think thats more pot stirring and in fairness to rvp and arsenal they've not entered the fray. I think pololski was got to replace arshavin on the left myself.

Malaga have seemingly imploded haivng being called the next man city.. its interesting but we'll see what pickings are on their carcass and if arsenal can get any..

the thing is... like it or not or admit it or not the arsenal fans can't deny they are a very big payer of wages so i'd not be shocked if they were paying 150k per week here.

Until PSG came through... <yikes>
