Gerrard rates him too which is good as the top players want to play with people of that calibre.

15.22 bst alberto aquilani will stay at liverpool and fight for his place in the first team next season, according to his agent. "alberto is back in england and is still a liverpool player. He will play there next season," franco zavaglia told calcio mercato.

"there goes that song again....." <whistle>

Neymar I'd love but unfortunately won't happen, just not the right time for us as he will want CL football <ok>

Gerrard is more than capable of keeping up the tempo and closing people down if needs be, he proved that during the euros when he had to play a game every four days!

Aquilani can go **** him self as far as I am concerned. He could be better than Messi but I'd still say the same, far too much water under the bridge with that one, he's made his bed so let him lay in it <ok>

Borini is a good young player but at just 21 years old, can he come in and lead the line? He'd have to hit the ground running if Carroll leaves too.

Dempsey would be able to do a job for us and he can do what we lacked last year...score goals!

Henderson will more than hold his own in a central midfield role IMO <ok>

Although he would improve the squad/team, I don't think we need Allen. There are other areas that need improving more, especially if Carroll goes <ok>

Sorry to see Maxi go (if true) but I'd like to wish him all the best for the future...<ok>

I quite like the 'out with the old and in with the new' approach that Rodgers is taking, just hope we aren't left short on numbers considering his 'three or four signings' comment <ok>

Agree with your post mostly, good stuff. But I do have a problem with this Aquilani bit, what exactly has he done wrong?

He has made it quite clear that he doesn't want to play for Liverpool. IMO, if a player doesn't want to play for the club then they shouldn't <ok>

The regular contradicting comments by his agent don't help either. Isn't this the third summer running that his agents said Alberto wants to play for Liverpool...? On the other two occasions he said Aquilani wanted to go back to Italy a week or two before the transfer window closed too. I guess time will tell but I know what my money is on...<ok>

17.27 BST - DONE DEAL - Hugo Rodallega has completed his move to Fulham. The former Wigan striker joins on a free transfer and has signed a three-year contract. "I wanted to stay in England and I’m delighted that I now have this opportunity with Fulham," he said. Full story

Carroll stays..................................... for now!

****ing $$$$$$$$ AGAIN!!!! <grr>

18.05 BST Villarreal forward Nilmar is on the verge of a move to Qatar. "Nilmar [is set] to complete the negotiations attached to the club Al Rayyan," read a statement on the Qatar club's website.

Nilmar would have been a quality signing for us. I can't blame players for cashing in at the end of his career but he is only twenty-bloody-seven <doh>
