Unless we're selling Patto, that's a complete waste of time and resourcesEFL Analysis can exclusively reveal, via transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, that we understand that Sunderland are interested in Stoke City goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.
Despite Sunderland bringing in Dutch keeper Robin Roefs, who is now ahead of Anthony Patterson in their pecking order, Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris is keen to add another shot-stopper to his squad.
Sunderland, who still want another central defender and centre-forward before Monday’s deadline, are now looking at Johansson, who has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season.

Suppose we may be of the opinion that Patterson's value is only going to decrease from here and now is the ideal time to cash-in.EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal, via transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, that we understand that Sunderland are interested in Stoke City goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

Would be disappointing to see another chip away at the academy narrative. At least Johanssonn counts as HG thoughIf we make thay move we will be selling Patto, I'm sure of it
Late seventies for me and a school mate...I went to Newcastle loads in the early sixties when the lads were playing away, never felt any affinity to them it was just a thing loads used to do.
Might free up some wriggle room though for quality in the positions we need to strengthen. Sadly Patto will not give us that quality much as a I like the idea.Would be disappointing to see another chip away at the academy narrative. At least Johanssonn counts as HG though
Would we really make loads of profit on Patterson compared to what it'd cost to get Johansson?Might free up some wriggle room though for quality in the positions we need to strengthen. Sadly Patto will not give us that quality much as a I like the idea.
Probably not. Imagine the prices will be similar. We’d just get to book Johansson over 4 years. Feels like a bit of a diversion to me though.Would we really make loads of profit on Patterson compared to what it'd cost to get Johansson?
I think Johansson is the better GK, more experience too. I wouldn’t have any problems with him coming in if Patterson was away.Probably not. Imagine the prices will be similar. We’d just get to book Johansson over 4 years. Feels like a bit of a diversion to me though.
Not for me. When things were up against his side at Wembley he bottled it. Not the type we need. Has a lot of quality, but not on my list any moreSurprised he’s still there tbh

I’m generally fine with it - particularly as he’s HG at least. I do wonder what it does to our academy reputation in the medium term, but it’s fine. It’s just a deal that doesn’t really do a hell of a lot for us. It may well be January before we’d see Johansson play.I think Johansson is the better GK, more experience too. Ow man. I had curtains when I was 18 and also was a generational talent.
As I once said to cyprus sid I went to every one of their home fairs cup games. No affinity just the chance to see foreign teams and players and it was free entry thanks to my elder brother. Alse went to see them play Tottenham so I could see Jimmy Greaves and Pat Jennings two of my favourite players at the timeGood post mate. I grew up in Consett in the late 50's and early 60's,and there were any amount who went to Roker one week and St James the other. It seemed like it was supporting North East football which was important, and the same people who had pride in seeing good football from one had the same pride in seeing the same from the other.Of course there was always rivalry when they played each other, but, growing up,I don't remember the sectarianism that seems to exist today.
