On Dan Neil , his form under Mowbray was sensational, but he has fallen well short of that level since , in hindsight maybe asking of him to fill the DM role was not a good idea, or captaincy for that matter, I wish him well whatever lies ahead. Maybe signing his contract here might be the best solution, showing up in the Premiership and playing like he can, could be a win win.
Well aye obviously we didn't sign 13 players for the starting XIWe didn’t, we had one new signing in the starting eleven on the first day of the season

I think he value has dropped as a result of being in his final year. If Hackney is £20m I would say Dan is similar level. But final year means clubs will get him much cheaper. I think we could be seeing him go for around half that personally, maybe less. I have no idea on the money situation but I imagine if he is a cheaper purchase price maybe he gets a bigger signing on fee or salary. You're right, I keep seeing people say that then give their opinion on what's being said, I do the same
To be fair he didn't seem to want to sign a contract when we were fighting for promotion and he may have painted himself into a corner now we're in the PL. It may have taken him by surprise that the likes of Xhaka have come in but that’s the reality and he’ll have to accept that.
I know people don’t like us to ‘cash in’ on home grown players but that hasn’t happened here in my opinion …
… I think his value actually dropped once we were promoted.
What is very badly? It can only really end in one of three ways surely? Sign, Go, Go later.Unless it's sorted soon it'll all turn out very badly imo.
I have thought for a while he may end up at West Ham. Not beyond the realms he comes on for last 5 mins, gives his shirt to a bairn and says his goodbyes I suppose. Might even do a Watson and curl the winner in to ingratiate him with his new teammatesWouldn't be surprised if he tries to wait till he's made an appearance in the prem for us

Not play for a year, poor, relatively, salary, no transfer fee for club, unhappy player around the place. Pretty bad potentially. What is very badly? It can only really end in one of three ways surely? Sign, Go, Go later.
I think you could be right about his value. Mind, I don't think that will stop us selling if we need to recoup as much as we can. You're right, I keep seeing people say that then give their opinion on what's being said, I do the same

I think Neil still has a part to play so hope he stays, needs sorted asap. Wonder if he feels a bit humiliated going from captain and mainstay to essentially sub
I reckon 8m up to 12 with add ons is where we’d be looking.I think you could be right about his value. Mind, I don't think that will stop us selling if we need to recoup as much as we can.

Could happen and would be a poor ending for him. I dont see that though personally. If he is on a free clubs higher up will take a chance. I would imagine europe beckons in that world. Maybe he still has a Watson moment left?Don't you think that would mean it ends badly?
One bad outcome would be if Neil refuses a new deal, runs his contract down, doesn't play or look interested, leaves for free and signs for Boro ...
... all guesswork but, then again, quite possible.
There'd be an endless discussion about who's to blame and would leave a bad taste imo.
He will surprise a lot of people, he's a very good player who just keeps rising to the occasion whenever he makes the step up. Plus he is vital for team morale and the young playersLet's not forget about luke o9 btw. If he's fit after his injury I think he might surprise a lot of people
Yep that's him
