Two slightly different players mind, this lad is a lot better defensively and is also alright on the ball. I think I’d prefer this lad myself but I’d like us to buy a ball playing CB too to go alongside him
I know it’s a bit premature as we haven’t even got 1 in but what are the chances we would get 3 centre backs in? This Paraguayan lad and Lucumi as left sided cover and Ballard and another lad for the right side?
Seems unlikely but Ballard has been a sick note in the past and I wouldn’t like to go have only 2 high quality centre halves available

Alderete been a really solid CB in La Liga for few years now.

‘Offered’ sounds like this is an agent hawking him around more than anything else
I reckon we still want Lucimi but have enquired about other options. Hopefully this will panic Bologna and Lucimi's team and get the deal over the line soon
If we do go for Alderete then I could see a player like Doukoure being signed as RCB option

An observation rather than a concern, as I know most of our signings just appear from nowhere: we’re not being linked to any right footed CBs
100% mate. Alderete is a straight defender he’s a different profile to Luc or Diakite in that he’s a stopper not a ball player.
Doukoure makes massive sense regardless he’s a physical beast and there’s so much growth in him. He’s a textbook SAFC pick up.
They are much easier to find and Ballard exists so I’m guessing that why we’ve openly prioritised a lefty.

Going to sound ridiculous hear because we played with 3 right footers in the back 4 last year and it works fine but the thought of 3 lefties makes me uncomfortable for some stupid reason
2 left footed in same CB pairing wouldn’t make sense. Be one or the other due to cost I’d wager.
Neither is gonna come as back up to the other.
Alderete and Dooukore would cost very little more than just Lucumi or Diakite or Balde so there’s a smart bit of shuffling there potentially.
A fit Ballard is good enough but he’d be better beside a ball player like Lucumi, whereas if it was OA we’d be looking at a right sided ball player I’d guess.
3 is plausible, but the second lefty would surely be an up and comer.
I'm.surprised we haven't been linked to Doukoure, he's in the last year of his deal so makes sense and his upside is immense
