You're mischaracterising me a little bit here; I said I'm not convinced we sign a centre back, not that we will in fact not sign one or that I don't want to sign one.

Relegation being viewed by the club as a disappointing inconvenience, meaning we will not sway from the path, that we will persist with the plan and immediately switch to prioritising promotion to get back on track. Relegation would not be a catastrophic event resulting in the current ownership abandoning ship.
I'll change my wording, I still don't see why you'd be convinced we won't sign one though

No smug, they don't. You've made that up pal :emoticon-0148-yes:

That's the impression I get from the impression they give and my opinion so not made up ...

... besides you can't speak for other people.

I say sack the season off and just keep the transfer window going forever instead. We can occasionally play a friendly.

It's more like a computer game than football at the moment imo, I'm sure some will see it as an anti-climax when the window closes.

To be convinced means to be completely certain. Can you say you're completely certain we'll sign a centre back? If yes, good on you, but I think there's a little bit of room there that makes me less confident about it, yet I remain hopeful.

I'd be very shocked if we don't manage to by September 1st mind. I can't see RLB being too happy with that either haha

I'm not 100% certain we'll show up for the first game at all, but I'm basically as confident as I can be.

When the manager comes out and says we want to sign a CB I become similarly confident that it will happen. Can't be 100% certain about anything so seems such a nothing point from you there.

I agree, it was a throwaway comment that seemed to animate quite a few on here, people feel what you write more then read what you write sometimes.

He's part of the recruitment process at Sunderland ...

... it's not like some other clubs whereby a DOF, or whatever, brings in player independent of the manager.
Yeah I know which is why I think we will get one too
